I can't tell you how hard it is to write this review, because part of me wants to keep Cobblers Cottage all to myself, but then another part of me wants you all to go there. This place is amazing. I'm not exaggerating, we love it. I have stayed at the cottage 4 or 5 times now, I forget, but every timeI return, it's like going home. As soon as I open that door, I instantly relax.
The cottage is quaint, it's compact and bijou and so beautifully done. Everything you need, the cottage has it. A beautiful olde worlde one up one down. The most comfy bed I've ever slept in and a shower that really leaves you feeling fresh and raring to go. You have every implement in the kitchen to Cook with if you want to have a romantic night in. It's clean, modern but still retains its character. Honestly, if the owners would rent it to live in, I'd snatch their hands off. There's also parking (which is hard to come by in Upton) a few minutes walk away.
You might feel like not wanting to leave the comforts of the cottage, but you must. Upton is the little town that time forgot. It is so lovely and the people so friendly. You step out of the cottage to a whole different world. Quaint shops (you must pop in and have a chat with the owner of Edinas), wonderful pubs and cafes, great walks and a whole lot of history ... and, of course, the river. No matter what time of year you go, chips by the river are a must.
A short walk to Clive's Fruit Farm for breakfast and their farm shop is a great little trip out, only 10-15 minutes walk. The Shack for a great ambience and lush lunch and drinks.
The Boathouse holds a special place in our heart. My husband 'nearly' proposed to me I'm there, but lost his nerve, so he did it back in the cottage. Can you see why it's so special to me now?
You can jump on the bus to lovely Tewkesbury. Drive a short distance to Malvern or Worcester and the National Trust property of Croome is a 5 min drive or 35 min walk.
Honestly, the cottage is a wonderful base to escape for a while. It has been our go to place for many reasons over the last few years.
I want you to go there and tell me I'm wrong.
Enjoy ?
