Appledene is a lovely Grade II listed semi-detached cottage situated in the village of Bredon's Norton, five miles from Tewkesbury. The cottage can sleep three people in one double bedroom and one single together with a ground floor family bathroom. Also in the cottage is an open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area and there's a separate sitting room. Outside is off road parking for two cars and a private front and side garden with patio and furniture. Appledene is a delightful thatched cottage in a lovely part of the country and in an ideal location for touring.

Area
The thriving village of Bredon's Norton nestles on the western slope of Bredon Hill on the northern edge of the Cotswolds. The village has many timber-framed 'cruck' cottages and a 14th century Manor House where it is reputed that Sir Walter Raleigh was a visitor.

Region
Visitors to the Cotswolds have long treasured memories of charming towns and villages built from the famous honey-coloured stone, it now boasts a thriving community of contemporary artists working from studios and shops throughout the area.

Fuel and power inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Off road parking for 2 cars. Private front and side patio garden with furniture. Sorry, no pets and no smoking. Shop and pub 2 miles. Farm Shop with limited opening hours 10 mins walk. Please note bedrooms have sloping ceilings which may cause issue for taller guests.

The cottage in Bredon’s Norton was perfect for our holiday exploring various villages in the Cotswolds.. The setting was very peaceful - the biggest noise was the birds and the church bells. It was always so lovely to come home in the evenings after our day out driving. Everything worked and was easy to manage. The stairs are a bit steep but have good handrails.

A good centre for some good days out to gardens and houses, and events. Appledean is set in lovely little village and enjoys it’s own privacy within a beautiful cottage garden.. The property is very comfortably appointed with everything you might need for your stay and was spotlessly clean. The owner supplied all the info we might need to help us get the most out of our visit and even kindly left us a welcome tray of tea, coffee and biscuits. We specifically chose this property as it was ideally located for us to enjoy the many attractions in the area which you could start with lovely walks right from the door. Everything about our stay was a delight from start to finish and I would have no hesitation in recommending to others.

There is one thing that we want to mention and that is that Americans don't know that some keyholes in the UK are covered with a little metal plate over the top of the keyhole.. We stood outside the front door for approximately 20-30 minutes when we first arrived trying to figure out how to unlock the door. I finally remembered from my time living in the UK that sometimes there is a metal plate over the top of the keyhole. After I remembered that, we were able to unlock the door. If the hostess could let guests know that the keyhole has a metal plate covering it, it may help other American or foreign guest who stay there to be able to figure out how to unlock the door. Additionally, the other more substantial lock on the front door that was a dead bolt - it turned out that once we got into the cottage and looked at the locks that it wasn't even functional because part of the lock was missing. So we struggled for 20-30 minutes with getting into the cottage due to not knowing about the metal plate over the keyhole and that the second lock wasn't even functional. Also, it was very unclear how to get the furnace to switch on. Thankfully, we called the hostess who came to the cottage quickly and showed us that the furnace is a part of the hot water heater - again, we would have never known this because we are American and we don't have similar heating systems in the US so we would have not figured out how to turn the furnace on without the hostess' assistance. We tried to read the booklet provided on that and couldn't figure out what to do. Obviously, if you are British, you would know that there is a metal plate over a keyhole and that the furnace is part of the hot water heater but we didn't know. Otherwise, delightful cottage and delightful hostess. We had a lovely chat with the hostess when she came over to help with the furnace issue. Lovely cottage and lovely village. Staying in the UK is always too short so looking forward to next visit.

Olde worlde charm with today’s comfort.. In a beautiful village, at the foot of a hill, it’s a great base for visiting The Cotswolds. We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Appledene & would absolutely recommend this delightful cottage to others.

The cottage was very well equipped but could do with a clock somewhere and a blind on the bathroom/toilet window.. It was in a good position for visiting the Cotswold. Lovely garden to sit in and eat whilst watching birds.
