Area
Warminster, a charming market town in Wiltshire, sits at the top of the verdant Wylye Valley, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to the south west of Salisbury Plain. Longleat, the largest safari park in the United Kingdom, features an exquisite Tudor mansion, beautiful gardens, and exotic animals like monkeys, lions, and giraffes, and is an absolute must-see on any trip to the area. Despite its prominence as a military hub, the historic character of Warminster's town centre has been maintained, and you can still discover charming residences and inns constructed from the local Warminster stone. A short two-minute stroll takes you to a place teeming with beautiful walking paths. Smallbrook Meadows is a nature reserve, park, and skatepark in Warminster that is easily accessible on foot, beginning with one of the town's three supermarkets or one of its many restaurants, bars, coffee shops, antique shops, museums, or theatres. While they're not busy making award-winning malted barley for the beer industry, the friendly folks at Warminster Maltings open their doors to the public for tours and cream teas in the summer. Alternately, you should definitely check out the beautiful cities of Bath and Salisbury, as well as the National Trust's Stourhead and the British Heritage site Stonehenge. This picturesque locale is teeming with unexpected delights and makes for an excellent home base for your travels.
