Stables Cottage is a beautiful old barn that has been tastefully modernised whilst retaining lots of character. The accommodation is light, bright and airy and spacious. The open plan kitchen - lounge is a lovely comfortable room for relaxing ,with a wood burner for chilly evenings, the large kitchen area is very well equipped and a breakfast bar divides the two areas. There is a separate dining room too. One of the en -suite bedrooms (a single) is downstairs - good if anyone has a problem with stairs. Upstairs there are in fact three more ( not two more as advertised) bedrooms, all en suite. The master is a lovely room with a very nice bathroom (bath with shower attachment). There is a single room and a twin room both with good shower rooms. Apart from the master the bedrooms aren`t huge but they all have storage space, a T.V. and are warm and comfortable.
Outside there is plenty of parking space and two separate sitting out areas - one at the side of the cottage which is overlooked by the owners cottage and another more private area at the rear . The owners are very friendly, helpful and welcoming. They run an Equestrian Centre so there are horses passing by the cottage and the stables are very near but if you aren`t interested in horses and don`t want to use the facilities it really doesn`t matter.
Although there aren`t particularly good views from inside the cottage once outside the views in both directions are stunning. The property is set above the town of Todmorden and in fact it`s a 10 - 15 minute walk down to the town - it does take longer on the way back as it`s quite a steep path back up! There are plenty of other walks from the cottage too and the location is great as there are many interesting places to visit in this part of Yorkshire, and wherever you go you are surrounded by beautiful scenery.
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Stables Cottage and would really recommend it for couples or for a family.
