Area
Hurstpierpoint is a pretty village nestled on the edge of the South Downs National Park, close to the city of Brighton in Sussex. The village comes alive on the first Saturday in July, when it hosts the St Lawrance Fair, which offers a procession of floats with different themes each year, traditional events, such as tug-of-war and a family fun run, as well as fairground rides and a hog roast on the village green. Within a 10 minute drive, or via a ten minute train ride from Hassocks station you can be in the cosmopolitan city of Brighton, from where you can take a stroll along the promenade, or sip coffee as you gaze over the marina with its magnificent boats as they sail in and out. Alternatively, dine alfresco at one of the many bistros or restaurants, indulge in some shopping, or take in a theatre production. For those who are interested in history, Lewes is only a short drive away. Famous for its royal and Tudor connections, this pretty town with its tea rooms and antique shops is a popular place to visit at any time of year. The South Down's Way is on the doorstep, ideal for ramblers and birdwatchers, plus Hickstead, home to British Showjumping and Glyndbourne, famous for its open air concerts are within driving distance, or you may wish to enjoy a round or two at one of the golf courses nearby. Hurstpierpoint has all that you can need for a stay in Sussex.
