The attractive rural village of Alton lies on the western fringes of the Peak District in lovely moorland countryside, between the market towns of Leek and Ashbourne. The village offers a post office, village shop and pubs serving food. The surrounding countryside is excellent for walking and cycling with miles of woodland trails and moorland hikes to enjoy. Dovedale and the limestone Churnet Valley are on the doorstep and The Manifold Trail is close by.

The ultimate in “year-round” appeal, the Peak District offers countryside, picturesque villages and magnificent scenery. It touches upon six counties and encloses 555 square miles of open moorland, flowing rivers, and wooded dales.

First class cottage all recently done to an excellent standard.. Lovely welcoming touches, wine/bread/biscuits etc. Very welcoming and friendly hosts. We explored the local area and did a number of easy cycle rides. Thank you for an lovely break. Terry & Lorraine

Had a lovely stay over the Easter bank holiday the place is set in a lovely location, so peaceful and equipped with everything you would need while you are there, both the hosts were polite and welcoming and the property has been finished to a high standard..
