The Barn is a pretty detached cottage with lovely views on the edge of the Somerset village of Compton Bishop. The cottage sleeps two people in a double bedroom with en suite shower room. Upstairs there is also a sitting room with wood burning stove and dining room. On the ground floor is a kitchen. Outside is a courtyard with table and chairs. Surrounded by countryside, The Barn is a brilliant base for a peaceful Somerset break.

We had the most wonderful time, the Barn is a fantastic find.. The hosts we very attentive, the free range eggs are delicious , but we found the bed extremely hard, it may also benefit from being slightly larger.

What awaits you at The Barn, Compton Bishop, is a warm welcome, relaxing surroundings and beautiful views (weather permitting) We spent a lovely weekend away as a birthday treat to my other half, and it was just what we needed.. The Barn is beautifully presented and well catered. The cookies, fresh eggs and local ale was a lovely surprise, and I can’t wait to try Allison’s homemade honey which we purchased. It was our first time away with our dog, and he enjoyed the local walks. Thank you for a lovely weekend, we hope to return again, and will certainly highly recommend.

Just simply exceptional.. A lovely greeting with home made flapjacks, fresh eggs and milk. Really big space for 2 people and furry companion. We took our own essentials as was unsure what would be provided. The Barn was so well equipped with everything you might need; from kitchen utensils down to toilet roll and laundry detergent, logs and kindling for the wood burner and even hot water bottles should we need them. I will be be booking again.

The owners left a welcoming tea tray with homemade flapjack and ale & cider in the fridge.. The courtyard is very pretty and we were able to sit outside with our tea tray in the sunshine. The Barn is in a perfect location, the surrounding area is beautiful and we enjoyed walking out onto the Mendips from the doorstep, no need to use the car. We couldn’t fault the accommodation which is tastefully decorated with some quirky features. Ideal for the two of us plus the dog. Allison & Nigel, the owners, are lovely, they have provided lots of information within a folder in The Barn and were also very willing to help with anything else to make out stay more comfortable. We hope to return again in the future- we’ve enjoyed our stay very much.
