Area Just 10 miles from the mediaeval city of Shrewsbury is the thriving village of Minsterley, located in the picturesque Shropshire Hills. Minsterley has a pub, one of the village's oldest buildings, a shop and Post Office, and a fantastic fish and chip shop! One mile away, in the village of Pontesbury, you'll find takeaways and restaurants, as well as Arscott Golf Club, Springlea Fishing Pools, and the Pontesbury cycle/footpath. If you enjoy nature walks and wildlife watching, The Long Mynd in the area is a great place to unwind and take in the breath-taking views. On a bend of the Severn River, Shrewsbury, England's finest heritage town, boasts more than 600 listed buildings. Shrewsbury's Summer Season is one of the many festivals that take place in the town each year. With a magnificent abbey dating back to 1083 and a castle set in beautiful gardens and grounds that houses the Shropshire Regimental Museum, the town of Shrewsbury has a lot to offer history buffs. With the National Trust's Attingham Park, Wroxeter Roman City, the museums of Ironbridge, the castle and Michelin-starred restaurant of Ludlow, and Acton Scott working farm, which was featured in the Victorian Farm TV series, this charming village is the ideal touring spot for your Shropshire adventure.
Region A E Housman once wrote that Shropshire was “the quietest place under the sun” and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.
