Whalton is the perfect starting point for a trip of the North East, situated between the shore and the countryside, and the Northumberland National Park is only a short drive away. A post office and The Beresford Arms tavern and restaurant are located in the village proper, however more services can be found in the thriving town of Morpeth. Visit the Belsay Hall, Castle, and Gardens for attractions, or find Kirkley and the Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens. When you are in town, schedule time to go to the Carlisle Park grounds, play a round of golf at the Morpeth Golf Club, or visit the Morpeth Chantry Museum. Go to South Shields for a day at the beach filled with coastal attractions or explore the national park on foot or by bike for a more rural setting.
