Stable Cottage is a semi-detached, single-storey cottage situated on the edge of the village of Sutton-Under-Whitestonecliffe, four miles from Thirsk. This cottage sleeps two people in a king-size double bedroom. The cottage also has a shower room and an open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area. Outside there is off road parking for two cars and an enclosed, communal gravelled courtyard with furniture. Stable Cottage is an ideal holiday home for a romantic retreat, with walks from the door, market towns nearby, as well as the beautiful Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Parks.

Area
The town of Thirsk is the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales National Park to the west and the North York Moors National Park to the east. The town offers a quaint market place, Georgian buildings, a Norman church, shops, pubs, restaurants, a cinema, a leisure centre and the World of James Herriott Museum.

Region
The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.

WE had a fantastic time in Thirsk, Yorkshire.. The Stable cottage was absolutely amazing, so clean, absolutely everything you could wish for was in this cottage, we can't wait for our next visit! Ed McDonald is such a lovely man, we were really over the moon when we saw the accommodation, absolutely second to none! We toured around Yorkshire, visiting some really lovely places, We went over the Yorkshire Moors, the scenery is out of this world! Visited Helmsley, which is such a pretty Market town, Boroughbridge, another really nice place! We had a fantastic week, couldn't wish for better! Also, lots of really nice pubs, the food was really good and lovely people!

Loved staying at Stable Cottage.. Very comfortable, and the extras like milk, biscuits and vinegar in the cupboard were very thoughtful. I enjoyed the chickens wandering about, and went to say hi to the lovely alpacas. Great area, lots to see.

We enjoyed a lovely September week at The Stable.. We had not trouble finding the farm following our satnav and when we arrived the door was unlocked and everything was clean and welcoming. The living/kitchen area is open plan with the bedroom and separate shower/toilet room at the back of the area. Lovely comfy large bed and plenty of hanging and storage draws. Lovely fluffy towels and a large shower. Plenty of outside seating with tables and parking close by. Separate laundry with a washing machine and tumble dryer even washing powder was supplied. The kitchen was well supplied with all the equipment you could wish for which included washing up liquid, hand soap and hand cream. The family are friendly without being intrusive. Lots of places to visit in the area and a pub serving food is a short walk away in the village. You can buy fresh eggs and a breakfast pack containing the farm's sausages and bacon should you wish to order it. The only downside we found was that there was no table and chairs. You sit on two stools with no backs at the worktop to eat and this was not comfortable. There was a two seat settee for watching the tv which was wall mounted.Good wifi.

And there are some great visitor attractions nearby including Nunnington Hall, Reviaux Abbey as well as the James Herriot centre in Thirsk. And the city of York is nearby. Brilliant holiday here. Great location, perfect cottage for two people.. Very clean and Ed the owner was very helpful and friendly. 5 out of 5 from us.

The cottage was warm, clean and comfortable and our host very friendly and helpful.. There are easy walks on the farm from where you can see the Alpacas, sheep, goats and wild hares in the evening. More strenuous walks from the Sutton bank visitor centre are close by. We found the cottage a good base location since it is well situated for reaching Whitby and other areas of the east coast by car. Thirsk, Northallerton, Bedale and Leyburn are also easily reached. Best of all there is a good pub in Sutton under Whitestonecliffe just a 10 minute walk from the cottage. There are many things of interest in this area, Yorkshire Lavender is well worth a visit, for oak furniture Mouseman in Kilburn, Squirrel man in Husthwaite and Beaver man near the pub are also worth a visit. Trenchers in Whitby does a really great meal at a reasonable price and The Whole Hog restaurant at Howe Bridge Farm, Low Marishes, Malton, does the best bangers, mash and beans I have had in a long time. The cottage is in a great area for a holiday and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

The cottage itself has been beautifully converted from a stable block.. It was clean, comfortable and all was in working order. As a facility it is first class. My complaint though is that there was a very strong WIFI signal available but NO internet on the other side of the router/modem. Other folks staying in the cottages experienced the same difficulty. Also the mobile phone signal was very weak for the first five days and finally gave up completely for the last two days. I had to drive into Thirsk whenever I needed to use either internet or phone and sit on Tesco's car park. Lidl's car park and the town square also worked fine! I was also surprised that during my entire stay no-one ever came to check if I had any questions, problems or needs. If you want to stay somewhere that is technologically 'off the grid', well-maintained and nobody will give a hoot about you, then this is the ideal place, but otherwise don't bother.

Stable Cottage is lovely.. The compact accommodation has been beautifully created and all the fittings are of a very high standard. Everything you need is provided and in mint condition. The cottage is immaculate,and comfortable. The owners are welcoming and friendly and the farm is peaceful. A perfect retreat.

Liked everything! The cottage was superb in all ways and the family were so helpful and welcoming. It is also an ideal location to get to lots of places of interest for all ages. This group of holiday lets is ideal for families as it is a working farm and there are plenty of animals etc. It was also exceptionally well renovated and very clean. Highly recommended and we shall return.

Stable cottage was a wonderful spot for a base in Yorkshire to explore the surrounding areas. The cottage was just the right size for 2 people. There is a kitchen with all the conveniences you may need, a sitting area with TV, a bathroom with shower and comfortable bedroom. The hosts were very nice and welcoming and gave us suggestions about places to visit and eat. This was a much nicer alternative to a hotel room.

We booked Stable Cottage for one week to relax and enjoy some fresh air. Directions given to get there were accurate and straight forward. On arrival the first thing that stood out was the high standard of cleanliness. The cottage was immaculate inside and very cosy. Within an hour of arriving there was a knock on the door to ask if we wanted fresh eggs in the morning!!! There are no negative points of our stay apart from being called home early for work. Facilities were fantastic including nice little touches like fresh milk left in the fridge and foil/cling film in cupboards and informative details of local attractions. Ed, Victoria and family were so welcoming that we'd recommend any of our nearest and dearest to stay here. We plan on booking one of Water Hall Farm Cottages again soon. Extra nice touches are Kathmandu (Cat man doo) inviting himself into your cottage to say hello and a beautiful, cheeky little dog bringing her football into your cottage.
