The Annexe is a lovely end-terrace ground floor cottage situated in the village of Burgh le Marsh just four miles from Skegness in Lincolnshire. The cottage can sleep two people in one double bedroom with an en-suite shower. Also in the cottage is an open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area. Outside is off road parking for one car and a patio with furniture. The Annexe is a delightful cottage and ideal for exploring this lovely part of the country with the coast close by.

Area
The pretty village of Burgh le Marsh, surrounded by open farmland, is just four miles from the popular seaside town of Skegness. Burgh le Marsh has varied amenities, with five pubs all serving food, a butcher's, a baker's and a village store. There is a lovely historic windmill and an ancient church, perched high on a hill. There is a mixture of old and new buildings, now housing several tea rooms and restaurants. It has a good road network, with very easy access to Louth, Lincoln and the coast.

From rolling countryside to historic cathedral cities and traditional seaside resorts, Lincolnshire offers a peaceful alternative to the discerning holidaymaker.

We were concerned when we arrived at just how small the bungalow was, especially as we were staying for 4 weeks.. We couldn't however have been more wrong. The bungalow was superbly equipped, even a pair of kitchen scales and an electric whisk! It was warm and cosy with a lovely comfy bed. The washing and drying facilities were no bother being located in a different building as so near by. Anthony was very pleasant and I'm sure if there had been any issues he would have been straight on them! It was lovely to find tea, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits supplied, and there were even 4 toilet rolls and toiletries as well as lots of extras in the kitchen which we just did not expect. The DVDs were a welcome bonus with the weather being so grotty, but when we did go out we found lots of lovely places to visit; the dog loved the beaches! We found people in the village very friendly, and enjoyed the hostelry in the White Hart, as well as enjoying a superb meal in the Windmill Restaurant. The only thing that wasn't supplied was any bakeware, so we just bought a little roasting tin in the pound shop and left it behind for the next occupant! There is really nothing negative to say at all and we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. The only thing the bungalow would benefit from would be some draught excluder around the front door as it was a little draughty during the high winds, but that is in no way a complaint!

Quite and very peaceful landlord was very trustworthy and friendly also the other residents were extremely friendly all made a very enjoyable stay We will be using the standard of the Annex as a yardstick to compare with the other let's we are going to book through sykescottages.. The Annexe was small but totally fine for two.. The village was lovely and The Bell pub was great,drinks reasonably priced, food delicious and very welcoming,The Fleece on the other hand wasn't,not friendly at all.It's a perfect location for seeing Lincolnshire.

The annexe was tiny but was next to several flats let out by the same owner.. There was no outside area as such to enjoy the sunshine. The people in the flats made the stay hellish with loud music playing. One woman got very drunk and walked into our property and sat down!!! We had to get our daughter to talk to her on the phone to get her out!!! We are in our 80's and do not need stressful holidays like this. Its greed on behalf of the owner to use this tiny place as a holiday home. Its the wrong place and situated right by the main through road so all you can hear is traffic. Never again. Reading the visitors book was colourful as nobody was happy.

We had a fantastic holiday in a great location.. The Annexe was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The facililities within was all you could expect. The area was a great location within a small village that had everything, pubs, resturantes, shops, etc. great to get out and explore, Louth, Lincoln, Skegness, etc. We wil be going back next year.

This is a very small cottage on an extremely busy road.. It only has one bedroom which we understood but it has a small kitchen, very small bathroom and small lounge. It is also next to a very busy road. The church opposite has a clock which chimes every quarter and on the hour continuously through the night. However the village/town is very good, with lots of pubs and food places including plenty of shops and stores which I would recommend . If you have booked this property then be aware that there is only a couple of chairs and a table outside the front door which is not very relaxing. Please remember to take ear plugs to wear during the night if you want to sleep.

If you want peace and quiet this is not the place to stay. On a main road with the church just across the road. The clock chimes every 15 mins 24/7. Does not bode well if like me you are a light sleeper. Ear plugs didn't help one single bit. The church bell are rung rather a lot and Wednesday night for well over an hour and a half. Thursday afternoon about the same we were hoping to have a bit of a chill out before going home Friday morning. They ring Sunday mornings too so no chance of a lie in. This is ok if you are deaf . Bungalow rather small but everything to make use of. However I was disappointed with the over all cleanliness of the place after having seen on here it was spotless. Lots of cobwebs, dog hairs last person had left crockery etc greasy so I had to wash it before I could use it. There was blood on one cushion on the sofa, horrible black at the base of shower doors. Shower room small as is the bedroom . Bed linen and towels were nice and comfy bed. Laundry room lots of cobwebs and spiders. Most neighbours are fine but no9 had a right slanging match with foul language. Nice touch was milk in the fridge and chocolate biscuits, there is also tea,coffee, sugar and a cruet. Books,games and DVDs . Lovely village with plenty of shops and places to eat the bell is by far the best place to eat with two meals for £12 Tuesday to Friday between 5pm and 6pm.

The Annexe was left clean for our arrival. It is quite small. It is situated on an extremely busy main road through Burgh Le Marsh with constant passing traffic all day, eases off after midnight, starts up again early morning. The living room windows are right on top of the busy main road, summer evenings, windows open, can’t hear the TV for the traffic. The bedroom window is close to the busy main road and less than a hundred yards on the other side of the busy main road there is a clock tower that chimes 24/7 on the quarter hours with full works on the hour. The 12 chimes of midnight are hauntingly loud and if you do manage to sleep then you’ll not sleep in because the 5am chimes are sure to wake you if the 4am chimes already haven’t. So if you are after peace and quiet, considering the traffic noise and church bells then The Annexe wouldn’t be for you. The Annexe is pet friendly in that pets are allowed but it is very small inside so could be a bit crowded if you have a big dog. Outside would be extremely hair raising if your dog is off it’s lead because of the busy main road, there is no fenced off area, dogs would be straight out of the door onto the courtyard. The Annexe I believe was a former public house, which brings me onto the courtyard. The Annexe steps straight out onto the courtyard that I guess would have once been the pub car park. This courtyard is shared by six, maybe seven other properties, residents, they live their all the time and each house has it’s own allocated car parking space outside it’s front door. So, potentially given a The Annexe has it’s own allocated car parking space outside the front door and the other residents have theirs, along with their visitors there could be 7 or more cars in the courtyard and this is your patio ! So, if you like the kind of holiday where you want to sit outside the cottage and “chill” as they say, The Annexe probably isn’t for you, it is quite busy in the courtyard with the comings and goings of residents, their visitors and not to mention the nearby busy main road and church bells. The owner has put a communal bench on the other side of the courtyard, set away from The Annexe, but again, you would be sitting with all the cars and between two of the residential properties, not ideal. The third alternative is to move the chairs to the front of side of the cottage but this would put you right by the busy main road, on top of not only the traffic but passers by too, gets quite at going to school and picking up from school times, we’ll there are pedestrians up and down all day because it’s a built up area, school not far away. It might well be that the residents in the courtyard experiencing “relationship” difficulties during our stay might have moved on, if not, you are in for a noisy time from their unacceptable noisy anti social behaviours, foul language and intimidation if you ask them to quieten down. All in All this was the worst experience we have ever had, we left feeling exhausted through lack of sleep (the traffic and bells) and on edge because of the anti social behaviours of one household in the shared courtyard. Oh if you like police cars, we had those too ! ! Yes, on our last night they were in the courtyard, 2am engine running, knocking on the door of the house having “relationship difficulties” and waving their torches around, police car’s engine left running, headlights full on, walkies talkies talking.

The Annexe itself was left clean for our arrival and the owner is quite approachable if you need to call him for anything.. What we did not know was that within 50 yards of the bedroom window is a church tower clock that chimes loudly on the quarter hours with additional gongs on the hour all day and all night long, this could be disturbing for light sleepers as it was for me, little sleep for two weeks. The Annexe stands on a very busy main road, the living room window is right beside the road and the bedroom window is about 2 yards from it, so there’s constant noisy passing traffic all day, starting around 4.30 am and going on until well after midnight. The Annexe does not have a fenced off area should you be taking a dog with you. The Annexe is the only holiday let situated within a busy courtyard of six or seven other properties. Each property has its own parking space outside the front door as has The Annexe. Should you want to sit outside then you’d be sitting on this courtyard and really it’s more of a car park, what with residents coming and going, their visitors and the noisy main road within yards, we didn’t feel comfortable enough to sit out for the two weeks we were there and it was beautiful weather too. During our two weeks there one household was having what was described as “relationship difficulties” and given that their front door is only about 6 yards from the bedroom windows of The Annexe, their behaviours, language, noise level and intimidation towards us when we asked them to quieten down was not what we had paid the owner for ! This Sykes experience was by far the worst we have ever encountered and we left, after 2 weeks, feeling exhausted and very disappointed.

Was very impressed by this cottage on my recent holiday. It was tastefully decorated and furnished and felt very comfortable and relaxing right from the start. The kitchen was well equipped and there are plenty of pubs and takeaways in Burgh le Marsh for any time you do not want to cook The local food shops are very good too especially the Co-op. The utility room is only a few yards away from the Annexe and is also spotlessly clean and well equipped. The double bedroom was very pretty and had a very comfortable bed. Burgh le Marsh is a beautiful town, ideally situated for exploring the area by car and is about 4 or 5 miles from Skegness. The cottage is situated opposite the church and if therefore easy to find for anyone without satnav. Had such a relaxing holiday, have booked to go back. The owner is very pleasant and helpful if you need to contact him for any reason.

The Annexe is very compact and very attractive both inside and out.. Liked the hanging baskets. The interior is tastefully decorated and furnished and very clean. Ideal for a relaxing holiday. Burgh le Marsh is a beautiful town. Food at the local pubs is very good but I thought the Windmill restaurant was outstanding. The locals are very friendly and the food stores good, especially the Co-op which is a biggish supermarket and all the food looked really fresh and inviting. The bathroom is small but someone can manage with it for a week unless heavily pregnant or considers themselves to be very large. The utility room is only a few yards away and is clean and very well equipped. The owner is pleasant and very helpful. To sum up this cottage and the holiday well-exceeded my expectations.

Burg le Marsh is a lovely village with plenty to see and do. Good pub food and other eating places. Easy access to the coast and either nearby attractions

On my arrival when I opened the door it felt very welcoming.. It was very warm spotlessly clean . There was everything you could need incl tea coffee sugar. There were full instructions of how to use all appliances important information and contact numbers. Beautiful clean bedding plenty of good towels.The owner arrived to welcome me and Introduce himself and make sure I had everything I needed.There was a gift of chocolate on the table for me which I thought very kind. I hope to return again in the future. Thank you

The Annexe was extremely comfortable and clean.. The owner visited us after we had settled in and ensured that if we had any problems to contact him. Burgh Le Marsh is a lovely friendly village. The White Hart, The Fleece and The Bell are excellent places to eat. The Chinese take away is fantastic as is the bakery. With 3 small super markets and a post office you have everything you require. Lovely walks around the village especially if you are a dog owner Skegness is only 4 miles away and further along the coast you will find some lovely beaches. The Antique Centre in the village is an Alladins cave and well worth a visit. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and hope to return..
