November 2021
We stayed at Moortown House for a week at the end of October 2021 as a group of eleven, with ages from 18 months to 82. The house is stunning and even better than the photos suggest. It was great having a downstairs room for members of the family with mobility issues. Upstairs the rooms were lovely, really big with great views. One of the rooms didn’t have a wardrobe or cabinet to store clothes, which would have been helpful. However, we had a spare room so could utilise that. The kitchen was well equipped but if you needed anything that wasn’t there the owners were very happy to supply it, if they could. Wifi was a bit sporadic but perhaps to be expected in such a large, old house and it is mentioned in the description and generally mobile coverage was good. The heated pool was wonderful and good size, which was enjoyed by all and great to keep the kids entertained. We met the owners on a couple of occasions; a lovely couple eager to ensure we enjoyed our stay but not intrusive.
Nearby you have access to supermarkets in Brigg and Caistor and a huge garden centre at Brigg, with the largest Christmas collection we have ever seen in a garden centre, which also had lots for the children to do. The Cross Keys Inn in nearby Grasby serves great food with lovely views out to the surrounding countryside.
We really enjoyed it here and would recommend it.
