Area Only eight miles from Skipton, the entryway to the Yorkshire Dales, the old market town of Barnoldswick is located in the Pennine hills amid gorgeous, gently rolling countryside on the Lancashire/Yorkshire border. A flourishing town in the centre of England, commonly referred to as Barlick, is proud of its manufacturing heritage, which spans from a significant textile sector to the production of modern aircraft engines at the Rolls Royce factory. The town is traversed by Pennine cycling and bridleways, and the magnificent summit section of the Leeds & Liverpool canal meanders past the town and its bustling port. Excellent walks along the old Roman road at Brogden Lane, the canal towpath, and the undulating heather moorland of Weets and Pendle Hill, which boast some of the best vistas in the nation, are also among the wonderful walking terrain. Numerous local businesses in the town offer a wide selection of locally produced goods, including baked artisan loaves adorning bakery windows and locally raised meat on butcher blocks. A beautiful old parish church, an ancient castle that is available to the public, and a vibrant market that fills the cobbled setts on either side of the high street can all be found in Skipton, a nearby wonderful old market town. The Copper Dragon Brewery, which launched in 2002 and is highly regarded in the CAMRA rankings, was named the best brewery in Britain in 2008 by the Academy of Urbanism. At Embsay and Bolton Abbey, steam trains with scheduled excursions are available, and the Leeds to Liverpool Canal passes through Skipton, with the one-mile-long Foulridge Tunnel and the five-rise locks at Bingley nearby. The first leg of the Tour de France was held there in 2014, attracting numerous tourists from all over the world to this beautiful region.
