Area
Cowes, a thriving port at the mouth of the Medina River, is divided into two distinct towns connected by a frequent floating bridge chain ferry. Both settlements have a lot to offer visitors, with West Cowes being a world-renowned yachting centre with excellent facilities for all types of watersports, as well as being the island's cycling gateway with the National Cycle Route 23 going through it. There's also a beach, as well as a plethora of good restaurants, inns, and unique specialised shops; there's something for everyone with a fantastic vibe. Osborne House, Queen Victoria's Italian-style country residence, is the most famous attraction in East Cowes; a tour of the luxurious royal suites and spectacular gardens is a must. Cowes is a great place to start for visiting the rest of the island, which has sandy beaches, beautiful walking country, quaint chines, and many family activities like the Needles and the Isle of Wight music festival.

The Isle of Wight, with its beaches, unspoiled scenery, rich heritage and over 500 miles of award-winning public footpaths is a walker’s paradise, or if sailing is your thing, the renowned annual Cowes Week is not to be missed.
