The Carthouse is a converted cart house, located on a mixed working farm, on the edge of the village of Shorwell on the Isle of Wight. This cottage offers all ground floor accommodation and sleeps four people in two bedrooms - one king-size double and one twin. There is a bathroom with bath, separate shower, basin and WC, along with a kitchen and a sitting room with dining area. Outside there is off road parking for two cars, along with an enclosed lawned garden with patio and furniture. With lovely walks and cycle rides available from the doorstep and with the nearest beach two miles away, The Carthouse makes a great base for a break on the Isle of Wight.

Area
Shorwell is a village on the Isle of Wight, 6 miles from Newport, and is reputed to be one of Queen Victoria's favourite places to visit. The village offers a shop, pub and Post Office. Wonderful scenic walking can be enjoyed while some lovely beaches are an easy drive away.

The Isle of Wight, with its beaches, unspoiled scenery, rich heritage and over 500 miles of award-winning public footpaths is a walker's paradise, or if sailing is your thing, the renowned annual Cowes Week is not to be missed.

We had a fantastic week & enjoyed being close to various sights across the island.. The cottage was perfect, they provided all we needed and so much more. There were flowers, milk and a cake when we arrived, as well as handwash, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid and some toiletries. The enclosed garden was huge & thoroughly enjoyed by us and our 5 year old twins. We’ve already booked for next year, can’t recommend it enough.

The Cart House was in a great location.. Extremely clean and had everything you could ever need including books, games, all the basic essentials and a kitchen with every pot, pan, dish or cooking item you would ever need. The owner was very friendly and made as feel very welcome. I would highly recommend this for a stay on the IOW.

Lovely friendly welcome from Julie the owner, also a tray set for us to enjoy a nice cup of tea and a beautiful home made cake, we sat in the garden and enjoyed the sunshine and the tea and cake.. The cottage has everything you need, you have heard of the saying "Everything but the kitchen sink", well this had the kitchen sink as well. The only thing you need to take is laundry detergent and fabric softener, this I guess is due to skin allergies. I would point out that the washing machine is just that, it is not a washer dryer, but that is not a problem, as there is a washing line with pegs, laundry basket and airers over the radiators for all your drying needs. We really enjoyed our stay here, so much so we are hoping to go back later in the year.

Larger property than expected.. It is excellent, very well equipped, friendly owners and plenty of space. 5-10 minutes in the car to Brighstone Car Park and shops and can then walk to the coast. We had a very enjoyable holiday in this cottage.

The Carthouse is on a working farm and the people who run it were very welcoming, and we had great pleasure in 'speaking' to the animals.. The Carthouse was immaculate with everything you would need, a home from home. A very large garden at the rear for children to play, and a patio with two bench tables. Rarely have we said we would return, but we will to The Carthouse.

We were made most welcome from the moment we arrived. It was very well equipped to a high standard, the furniture was very comfortable and the rooms were spacious. It was also good to get free WiFi. There were a good selection of games and toys for children and there were also books to read and a selection of DVD's to watch if required. They also had a leaflet stand, stocked with ideas of were to go and what to do. We would recommend this property to anyone wishing to stay on the Isle of Wight.
