The neighbouring coastal towns of Bridlington and Filey have long, sandy beaches and a variety of tourist attractions, while the surrounding countryside is ideal for cycling and walking. The shops, cathedral, and museum of historic York, the seaside resort of Scarborough, and the North Yorks Moors Steam Railway at Pickering are all within an hour's drive, and Whitby is only a short distance away.
