Area On the East Coast, 15 miles south of Bridlington, is the charming coastal village of Hornsea. This historic Victorian resort is perfect for families since it boasts long, wide, safe sandy beaches as well as a lovely promenade with well-kept plants. The thriving town centre is filled with a nice selection of local shops, bars, and cafes, while Hornsea Mere, the largest natural lake in Yorkshire, is close by and provides boat rides, sailing, and fishing. Hornsea Freeport is popular for shopping, whilst Bempton Cliffs RSPB reserve can be reached in just over half an hour's drive, offering one of the largest mainland puffin populations in Britain. Wassand Hall and walled gardens are nearby, and Hornsea makes a wonderful home base for exploring the Yorkshire Wolds, North York Moors, and East Riding coastal destinations. Within a short distance are the historic city of York, Beverley with its renowned gothic cathedral, and The Deep in Hull.
