Curlew Cottage is set all on the ground floor two miles from Barnard Castle. The cottage sleeps two people in one twin bedroom. There is also a bathroom, a kitchen with a dining area and a sitting room with a multi-fuel stove. Outside there is a patio with furniture and a BBQ where you can enjoy the surrounding countryside views with your morning cup of tea. There is also off road parking for two cars and bike storage. Curlew Cottage is a fantastic choice for a romantic retreat.

Area
The market town of Barnard Castle is situated in the unspoilt countryside of Teesdale in County Durham. It stands on the site of an ancient Roman ford which crosses the river. The medieval ruins of the castle still tower over the river and are well worth a visit. Known affectionately as 'Barney’ by residents and visitors alike, the town boasts cobble streets, yards and back lanes, which were ﬁrst laid out in the 12th century. The nearby Bowes Museum is well worth a visit and a wonderful way to spend a day wandering around this beautiful building and experiencing the fascinating exhibitions.

From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?

Nice owners, a goody basket and fresh flowers to start, the cottage was very comfortable with everything we needed to hand, it lives up to its name as the only sounds you hear are the Lambs and the calls of the Curlews .. We will be back.

Rob and Valerie were excellent hosts, they greeted us on arrival and gave us a tour of the property.. Their cottage was immaculate and had everything you needed to make your stay comfortable. There are plenty of places of interest to visit within close proximity and wether you decide to eat in in the well equipped cottage or eat out in the many local restaurants you won't go hungry. We highly recommend this property and thanks again to our hosts.

Lovely location and setting.. Ideal for exploring North Pennies and Yorkshire Dales. A well equipped little cottage with most things you need. Very friendly and helpful owners. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. We had a lovely two weeks.

The hosts were exceptionally welcoming and made sure we knew how to get to attractions we might be interested in.. They looked up the best car park in Durham for people with mobility problems and printed out a map. Very clean cottage with good supply of interesting books, DVDs , and magazines
