Little Forge is a thatched modern stone cottage situated in the village of West Lulworth in Dorset and benefits from light interior with contemporary furnishings. The cottage can sleep 5 people in 1 double with en-suite shower and 1 double with single with en-suite bathroom. The rest of the cottage is made up of a kitchen, a diner/sitting room with an inglenook fireplace. To the outside of the cottage is off road parking for 2 cars and a patio area with furniture. Little Forge is superb cottage for couples close to Jurassic Coastline.

Area
West Lulworth boasts the most dramatic geological features on the Jurassic coast line and arguably the most photographed locations in the UK is Durdle Door. Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door sit side by side at the heart of this area and really are a must visit. Lulworth Cove has many little café’s and beach side shacks serving local seafood, ice cream and other delights, as well as several restaurants and pubs from which to choose. There is an Lulworth estate information centre which offers an insight into how the cove and Durdle door were formed and Jurassic history of the region. If you tire of Cove and cliff top walks then Lulworth Castle is a short drive away and offers another glimpse at some more recent history, along with Tyneham Village, and Corfe Castle. This is a really special area and the village retains a lot of it’s thatched cottages and has a real air of a rural retreat.

Firstly, I booked through booking.com however understand that many people visit tripadvisor for reviews, so am leaving one here! I stayed at Little Forge with a friend for a November weekend. The cottage was immaculately presented, just a short walk from Lulworth Cover, so perfectly placed for visiting the Cove, local walks and Lulworth pubs and restaurants. The two bedrooms are large, with one having an ensuite with a fantastically powerful and hot shower. The lounge was cosy, with the log burner and comfy sofas. Upon arrival we found a welcome card on the dining table, along with flower, biscuits a tea bags, all little things that helped our stay to be relaxing and a break away from the daily grind! In the kitchen we found enough plates and cutlery, plus pots and pans. Cleaning materials were all provided too. One small thing missing was salt and pepper, plus maybe cooking oil too, as these would have helped to make our stay perfect, being able to cook everything we brought with us without having to pop to the shop for these things. A Bose speaker, TV and DVD player, plus a selection of DVDs, board games and books were also nice touches. Easy to find and only just over 2 hours from London, this cottage is a perfect place for a weekend or longer!

On the plus side the location is perfect, in the middle of the village and close to the cove, pubs, restaurants etc.. and there is plenty to do and see in the surrounding area to meet all tastes. Unfortunately there are detracting issues with the cottage, for example the heating is controlled from the cottage next door, we visited in one of the hottest weeks of the year but the heating was on and off for hours at a time and at odd times - I did try to turn off all the valves at the radiators as suggested but two were seized and couldn't be moved. The two cottages are divided at one point internally by a single wooden door - unfortunately this does nothing to insulate the noise from the other cottage, fortunately that was only occupied for a long weekend while we were there. The cottage is rated as 5 star and in our opinion 3 perhaps 4 would be more appropriate.

Just outside the centre of Lulworth Cove and away from the crowds, but within walking distance to shops, restaurants, walking paths and the sea. The cottage was clean cozy with a very well equipped kitchen for cooking and entertaining. The wood burning stove made the cottage very comfortable on a chilly evening. The beds were extremely comfortable and there were two sizeable bathrooms. Lovely garden for breakfast or afternoon tea. A wonderful retreat

The heating boiler is situated in the property attached which means occupants have to rely on those next door to control the heating.. As the heating didn't come on at the time expected we had to ring the caretaker to sort it out. This is a very inconvenient set up. The caretaker, Sharon, was very helpful tho and promptly came to our assistance. However we enjoyed our stay in this comfortable cottage situated in walking distance to the cove and a good choice of eating places. A really lovely area for a holiday.
