A number of issues with the cleanliness of the cottage and function of some elements. Functions such as kettle replaced and protruding nail in the floor (which would have cut your foot open if you stood on it) were dealt with by the owner however cleanliness not. Bath panel hanging off which was fixed however viewed that i caused the problem by the owner. Issues relate to mouldy sheets, dog fur everywhere, mould, unclean pots and pans, dirty fridge, un-kept garden, disgusting freezer in the garage and dead flies in the kitchen to name a few. Owner was rude and offered no apology to the issues or to rectify cleanliness. I asked for a partial refund but refused by the owner. The owner advised Sykes that he had sorted all issues and he had cleaned which is a huge lie as issues still there and mouldy valance sheet (which he declared was a small stain). A representative from Dream Cottages visited and advised that the property was grubby and not to standard. Requested a partial refund again and refused by the owner who said there was no issues with the cleanliness. Sykes now siding with the owner in respects to the refund (seen as he has said no there is nothing they can do). Looks like a small claims court approach is required to get a refund. I would never ever stay there again and unlikely to book with Sykes / dream cottages ever again. If you want to stay in a cottage that is disgusting then book up now! At least it was cleaner when we left because we cleaned up and inadvertently cleaned the weeks or months of grime before us.
