Area A serene, charming village in Devon's South Hams region, situated at the bend of the River Yealm that rises from the South Devon coast (1 mile). The ideal retreat for sailors, people who enjoy being around water, and people who value beautiful, civilised countryside. At Newton Ferrers, there is a local butcher, pharmacy, grocery store, post office, and an organic farm shop is only two miles away. The village bar offers tasty fare and beverages and has stunning views of Noss Mayo and the rill across the sea. There are several scenic walks in the vicinity that meander along the water's edge and over fields, and to the north Dartmoor's high tors and open spaces welcome those who enjoy the great outdoors. While picturesque Totnes with its "different" perspective on life is a must, the city of Plymouth with its shops, Marine Aquarium, and Barbican quayside district is only 8 miles away. If you prefer the beach to boats, you can't do better than the stunning sands of Mothecombe and Bigbury, which are only a few miles away. Both can be reached from Newton Ferrers by car or boat. Many top-notch golf courses are close by.
Region Devon, with its quiet country lanes, patchwork of lush green fields and sleepy villages is not to be missed. Stately home lovers will be spoiled and why not finish with a scrumptious Devonshire cream tea?
