1 Gabberwell Cottages is a charming end-of-terrace 18th century cottage on a quiet lane in the pretty South Devon village of Kingston. The cottage sleeps four people in two double bedrooms (one can convert to twin) with a family bathroom. On the ground floor is a sitting room with wood burner and a kitchen with stable doors to the garden. Outside is a good sized garden with steps down to lawn from a decked area, sun loungers, table and chairs and countryside views, and parking for two cars. Just 500 yards from the friendly village inn, 1 Gabberwell Cottages is a welcoming cottage for a memorable cottage in Devon.

Kingston is a very pretty Devon village, well off the beaten track in an AONB, one mile from the River Erme’s beautiful wooded estuary and sandy Wonwell beach.

Region
Devon, with its quiet country lanes, patchwork of lush green fields and sleepy villages is not to be missed. Stately home lovers will be spoiled and why not finish with a scrumptious Devonshire cream tea?

Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Cot and highchair available on request. Off road parking for two cars. Enclosed garden with barbecue. Two well-behaved dogs welcome (not permitted upstairs). Sorry no smoking. Pub less than 1 mile from property.

What little beauty Small but very well stocked everything we needed including cake & milk ! Our first break since the start of Covid & I have to say it was well prepared for the “new way of life “ since Covid . Would book again Good parking for our 4x4 even if the Devon lanes aren’t ! My only negative is the electric shower Scolding hot or freezing cold needs replacing as a danger !

Just got back from a wonderful week in Devon. The location was perfect, just what we needed! A week of relaxing, walking the dogs and the odd glass of wine!! The cottage was very clean and comfortable and was equipped with everything we needed. The welcome card, Lemon Drizzle Cake and milk was a lovely touch. I was a little worried staying away from home with the Covid situation but there was plenty of hand wash, hand sanitizer and anti bac spray (We had taken our own too) Also the additional information given regarding the extra precautions taken gave me peace of mind. The garden was lovely too, quiet, relaxing and private. The dogs loved it, especially watching the cows in the field next door. It was so good we’ve just booked for 2 weeks next year!! Very helpful and friendly owner who sorted out the one issue we had promptly on a Saturday.. Quiet rural location on edge of village but with easy access to The Dolphin pub and the beaches and walks, The enclosed garden was just right for two grandchildren and the dog to have fun. Good place to go jogging from too.

The cottage was well prepared and comfortable.. It is a shame however I had to pay £10 for additional wood for the fire as the cottage description said fuel and power were included.

Hi my wife and I enjoyed a comfortable and pleasant stay at 1 Gaberwell Cottage in September The Cottage is very cosy and contains all the facilities required for our stay.. The location is lovely and the village and local pub (The Dolphin) are both picturesque and nearby. There are a good number of walks a short drive away, with beaches where you can walk with your dog, in the summer months. The Dolphin needs a mention as we did not see it possible to walk and enjoy a meal at any of the other surrounding village pubs. Food and beer is good and meals plentiful but you must book tables on the days you wish to eat, as the local inhabitants use the Pub for celebration meals so even Monday can be busy! The shop at St Anne’s Chapel is good to visit and has most things you need for days out rain or shine. Yes we would love to visit again with our dog Charlie.

The property was perfect and the owner helpful, as we were due to arrive in the middle of the night.. We had a fantastic holiday and would thoroughly recommend the property. However, Sykes Cottages managed to take the shine off by ringing me the next day to ask if I had "accidentally packed" (their words) two chopping boards from the property! Offensive suggestion and deeply unimpressed.

The property was literally home from home with all appliances in the kitchen that you would provide for yourself.. There was a good size television ; essential during a World Cup tournament !! The Dolphin pub was a gentle stroll away and a pleasant part of our routine at the end of the afternoon. The only criticism is the description of Womwell beach and estuary being a mile away. It is a much longer walk which meant only a couple of visits instead of making it a daily ritual.

We enjoyed a really restful week here. It is very well equipped, with everything we needed and more (other than a hair dryer - maybe we didn't look far enough). It has a secluded garden with picnic bench (a couple of deck chairs might have been nice to relax in the sun!), and a nice airy and bright kitchen/conservatory. A very comfortable break in a lovely, very quiet, village, with good local walks.

Cosy well appointed cottage in a secluded position, quaint 16th century 'Dolhin' pub within a short walk from cottage, really enjoyed our stay, was given a warm welcome from Claire the property manager, very welcoming log burner in the lounge for the colder nights,virtually every thing we needed for a comfortable stay...would definitely book again
