Area Hope Cove is a lovely and unspoiled settlement on Devon's south coast, nestled in the sheltering curve of Bigbury Bay. The two beaches feature soft sand and rock pools for sandcastle construction and tiny crab catching, making it a popular family vacation. The settlement is still a fishing community where crabs and lobsters are landed, but it was previously a smuggler's hideaway. Many ships have sunk off the coast, and the wrecks that lie beneath the waters make it a popular diving destination. A variety of pubs and eateries are located above the beach. From here, you can join the coastal walk, which travels in one way to Bigbury-on-Sea and in the other direction to the coastal resort of Salcombe.
