Area
Just upstream from Bere Alston on the river Tamar is Morwellam Quay, a tiny harbour where half the world’s copper travelled through in the 1860s, and which is now a popular visitor attraction telling the story of copper mining through history. Trains run between Bere Alston and Plymouth, on the picturesque Tamar Valley line, following the river for much of the route. Bere Alston has a village shop and pub and there are plenty of countryside walks.

Region
Devon, with its quiet country lanes, patchwork of lush green fields and sleepy villages is not to be missed. Stately home lovers will be spoiled and why not finish with a scrumptious Devonshire cream tea?

We had a brilliant week - Daffodil Shed was just delightful and a really lovely place to stay.. Ruth and Henry have thought of everything - it was one of the best equipped cottages we've ever stayed in. The area was stunning - we did loads of walks straight from the cottage. Would highly recommend!

With the promise of good weather we booked the Daffodil Shed at the very last minute and we hit the jackpot.. We love, love, loved the ‘shed’ (a tasteful converted barn) and the beautiful area surrounding it, if you love walking then you won’t be disappointed. The delightful owner’s Ruth & Henry made us feel very welcome and we very much look forward to returning one day.

We were made very welcome on arrival with welcome pack in the cottage.. Very friendly owners who maintained our privacy throughout the week but also offered any help with facilities or locations to visit should we request it. The cottage was really excellently equipped with every conceivable item, fresh and clean brand new decor. Nicely located in countryside with pleasant nearby evening walk to the week or short 2 mile drive to Here Ferrers where you can explore the ancient church, quay, 16th C pub, or leave the car FOC at the villagel railway station to catch a train to Tavistock or Plymouth to enjoy a traffic free excursion. I Would thoroughly recommend this cottage as either a nice place to unwind or also as a gateway location to explore nearby Dartmoor. A visit to Buckland Abbey and adjacent The Cottage Gardens is also an essential must do, located nearby.
