The Barn is a big, smart detached house on a 200 acre Devon farm near the village of Southleigh. The house sleeps 14 people in six bedrooms with six bathrooms, including one easy access ground floor bedroom. On the ground floor is an open plan living space with seating area, dining area and kitchen. Outside is a paddock for games, a play area, a hot tub and a terrace with furniture and outdoor electric grill, as well as the farm to wander and enjoy outdoor activities. The Barn is a smashing base for big groups to enjoy a lovely Devon holiday.

Area
Beer is a small picturesque fishing village on the south Devon coast near Seaton. The shingle beach is very sheltered, backed by limestone cliffs and was once fertile smuggling territory, plus contraband was hidden in nearby caves, which are now a popular tourist attraction

Devon, with its quiet country lanes, patchwork of lush green fields and sleepy villages is not to be missed. Stately home lovers will be spoiled and why not finish with a scrumptious Devonshire cream tea?

Located just 10 minutes away from the sea, in the middle of the countryside with beautiful landscape views as far as you can see. The accommodation is beautiful inside and out with real wood flooring, log burner in the living room, beautiful leather furniture, extensive kitchen/dining area and a great games room for the kids with a pool table and table football. The bedrooms are all tastefully decorated and very spacious with really comfortable beds. The hot tub was an added bonus after a busy day and night, just right to relax in before bed. The hosts are really friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We had fun exploring the countryside and even had a go at clay pigeon shooting. We will definitely be back. Thanks

Myself and some friends and family have just got back from this beautiful place and already talking about booking again. The photos don’t do the place justice….everything about it was perfect. So clean and tidy…BEAUTIFUL views…. The house has everything and anything you could possibly want. The owners have thought of everything. A trip we will be talking about forever!!

We came here to celebrate my mums 80th birthday..at one time there was 13 of us and we all found it very comfortable and plenty of room! The house was spotless on arrival and a lovely bottle of wine for us to enjoy! The rooms all had en suites, you had everything you could need in the house! As it says in the welcome book the peacock enjoys a chocolate biscuit..and how right they are! The kids loved feeding him his daily biscuit and collecting the eggs from the chickens! We had some lovely walks down to the lake..if a little steep on the way back! We had Jamie take us out on the Polaris which was great fun! He made it very enjoyable and a lot of laughs were had! The hot tub was lovely to chill out in! We all had a great week thank you!

We enjoyed a wonderful week at the Barn with our children and grandchildren to celebrate our Ruby Wedding.. This was a perfect venue for us, with the opportunity to relax together in very beautiful surroundings. There was so much space in the house, and ample excellent facilities for everyone. The pool table and football table were well used, and the children loved their little play area next to the hot tub. The opportunity to feed the chickens and collect eggs each day was an added bonus for them. There is also a small lake for fishing, although we didn't seem to have much luck with that! The tranquil setting of this property enabled us to enjoy loads of super walks in the area with our two dogs, who both had a great time! The large hot tub was well used, especially for evening relaxation when the children were in bed. We arranged for a local photographer to come one morning to shoot family photographs, in the spectacular setting of this beautiful spot in Devon. As my daughter said yesterday.....' We will NEVER forget this holiday!' I can highly recommend the Barn for extended family groups. We were ten in number, but there would be plenty of space for 14.

The Barn is in a beautiful setting.. Very private with wonderful views. We had a birthday tea on the front balcony which was perfect. The facility is ample for 14 guests. All 6 bedrooms are en-suite to very high specifications. Lounge furniture very generous & comfy. We had a lovely holiday with our extended family. The boys of all ages loved the hot tub, the snooker table & football game. It would have been even better if there had been rugs on the bedroom floors. The towels were rather thin & scratchy. These details were surprisingly disappointing given all other aspects of the Barn are superb.

Absolutely loved it.. Brilliantly equipped, high standard and comfortable. Loads of space. Loved being on the farm and seeing the animals. The views were lovely, hot tub well used and pool and table football enjoyed by all. Our ages ranged from 1 year to 84, and the barn had enough for all of us.

Online booking system is easy to use and email communication clear and timely.. The property was very good and in a wonderful setting. A couple of minor points - in such a large property king size beds in one or two of the bedrooms would not be out of place and the addition of some larger mirrors would help with make up/clothes choices according to the ladies in the group.

Brilliant place tucked away, far away from day to day life.. Great facilities and helpful host that is happy to give you space, but also be close to hand if there are any questions - perfect for either a quiet weekend walk or a party. Would highly recommend.

Great setting for a week away - morning breakfast on the patio with the lovely views, no better start to the day.. The Barn is spacious, well presented and very well fitted out. Our group of 9 adults had a great stay. Highly recommended.

The Barn is in a wonderful setting where on a sunny day the view from the new patio is amazing.. .....I found it very difficult to read my book as I had to keep looking around. Plenty of walks from the door.....a bonus if you have dogs. The mornings were the best......so peaceful and still......we were up early! The kitchen is very well equipped.....love the Aga which created a very warm cozy feel to the rooms downstairs. The pool table and football game helped to while away many an hour during the evening as did the hot tub. Plenty of TVs and films to watch, but they hardly got a look in! The only real negatives were the squeaky floorboards upstairs and the main double bed upstairs sagged in the middle. So many places to visit.......particularly liked Beer.....we walked from there to Seaton and back. Branscombe.....park in the village and take a circular walk down to the beach and back.....the hillside was covered in wild garlic in May. The pub there called the Mason Arms is well worth stopping for lunch. Sidmouth.....walked up to Higher Peak Hill and then down into the town for lunch. Quite busy on a sunny day, but plenty to see and do. Beautiful beaches everywhere. Can certainly highly recommend staying here.

My group were staying in "The Barn" for a long weekend. Our purpose was so that we had a base for the local sporting event "The Grizzly" a long arduous endurance race. We needed somewhere comfortable and relaxing to stay that provided warmth, comfy beds, lovely showers and bath, recreational facilities and comfy chairs / sofa's all in a clean enviroment. "The Barn" provided all of this. Some of my group also stayed at the other house on the site "Lower Wadden". I spent time in there also and although the layout was different, the facilities met the same high standards. Being an animal lover, I paid attention to the condition of animals kept near the accommodation. They were kept beautifully and they appeared content. The peacocks are very friendly and come up for food when they see visitors. Personally I fell in love with the young ostrich who also enjoyed being fed and gave lots of his big eyed side ways glances. All of the group enjoyed their stay and all spoke highly of the facilities. We are very likely to use again.
