Lew Quarry Cottage is a pretty, detached, thatched cottage down a no through lane near the Devon village of Lewdown. The cottage sleeps four people in a double bedroom and a twin bedroom with a downstairs bathroom. On the ground floor is a sitting room with open fire, a dining room and a kitchen. Outside is a store for your bikes and a pretty garden with outdoor furniture. A mile from the village, Lew Quarry Cottage is a magical place for a peaceful break in Devon.

Area
Lifton is a small village in the upper Tamar Valley, close to Launceston and the passing A30 road into Cornwall. This pretty community, once sitting astride the old A30 London to Penzance trunk road, is blessed with a village shop and post office, a superb pub and 3 top quality restaurants.

Region
Devon, with its quiet country lanes, patchwork of lush green fields and sleepy villages is not to be missed. Stately home lovers will be spoiled and why not finish with a scrumptious Devonshire cream tea?

The cottage exceeded expectations.. It was lovely to sit in the garden listening to the birds. The kitchen was very well appointed and everything one could need was there. A wonderful place to unwind.

Great Location for walking and visiting attractions.. The mattress on the double bed had recently been changed and it was one of the most comfortable beds that I have slept in. Well equipped cottage . Highly recommended

It is a very nice cottage indeed, just right for what we wanted.. We did find the bedroom arrangement difficult, being two single people, and with only tiny windows so they were a bit airless, but in every other respect the cottage was delightful. Also the caretaker was extremely welcoming even though we turned up a bit early.

Booking was efficient as usual through Helpful Holidays and we had another wonderful week at Lew Quarry Cottage.. We soaked up the tranquil atmosphere and enjoyed the very beautiful surroundings. Thanks to Eva for the thought and the care that she puts into this most special cottage, we are already looking forward to our next visit.

This is the third time we have stayed at Lew Quarry Cottage, returning there is just like home from home.. It is certainly the best cottage we have had anywhere in England.I have already booked it for the same week next July as that week coincides with my partner's birthday and we do like to get away to celebrate! We also have friends in the area to visit, and there are plenty of antiques shops within the area to visit and hopefully buy; we're both busy antiques dealers. Long may Lew Quarry Cottage remain available!

Lew Quarry Cottage is a beautiful "chocolate box" cottage with pretty gardens set in peaceful countryside.. We had a warm welcome from Eva,fresh flowers throughout the cottage and all kinds of delicious treats left for us. The cottage is cosy and comfortable, extremely well stocked with everything you could possibly need and you feel relaxed and at home very quickly. We enjoyed sitting in the garden watching the wild life,something different everyday!!! Two things i would point out...being an old cottage the ceilings and doorways are quite low and hubby ended up with a few bumps on his head (he's 6ft 2ins) ....and the path to the cottage is fairly long and an uphill slope which could be a problem to those with limited mobility. Apart from this the cottage is absolutely perfect,has bags of character,in beautiful surroundings and i would definitely stay here again.

The wow factor was very high when you enter the cottage: it is spottlessly clean, very well equipped and very cosy.. The garden is a dream with its wonderful bluebells and the fantastic view. It is a great base to explore the dartmoor and the surrounding area: Lydford Gorge, Okehampton, Exeter, Lustleigh, HayTor, Widecombe-in-the Moor, Bellever, Cadover Bridge, Buckland Abbey, Cotehele, Brixham and Dartmouth. We had wonderful weather and enjoyed our stay very much. We reccomend Lew Quarry Cottage for all who want to stay in a quiet accomodation. Eva the caretaker is very helpful and the welcome packet and the fresh flowers in every room was a great receipt. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.
