The Hay Barn is a comfortable cottage converted from a barn on a traditional working farm near the Devon village of Halwell. The cottage sleeps five people in two bedrooms, a double with en suite bathroom and a family room with double and single beds and en suite shower room, both with balustrade. On the ground floor is a kitchen with dining area and a sitting room with a wood burning stove. Outside is a private sunny patio with outdoor furniture and barbecue, and shared use of a splendid indoor swimming pool, play area, games room and trampoline and waymarked walks across the farm. A mile from the village, The Hay Barn is a stylish cottage for enjoying a lovely family holiday in Devon.

Ground floor WC/utility room with basin. Kitchen with dining area. Sitting room with wood burning stove.

Halwell is a small village in wooded farmland equidistant from the busy little town of Kingsbridge and popular Totnes.

Region
Devon, with its quiet country lanes, patchwork of lush green fields and sleepy villages is not to be missed. Stately home lovers will be spoiled and why not finish with a scrumptious Devonshire cream tea?

Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Cot and highchair available on request. Off road parking for three cars. Shared Childrens play area, barbecue, indoor pool. Three well behaved dogs welcome. There is £20 per pet charge for the second and third pet. Note: Swimming pool is 39' x 19' x 3' to 4'6" deep, available from 8am to 8pm; occasionally the pool is also used by owners' family and friends.

Was a good holiday generally, owner was friendly and pool was big and kids loved it.. The only point to make in the interests of a balanced review would be that there were quite a few small things that whilst not really having any impact on the holiday were a bit niggly given what we’d paid: Garden was not self contained as advertised so we couldn’t just let our dog out without supervision. This was a pain tbh. No toilet extractor fans worked. One toilet was very hard to flush. Downstairs toilet door very hard to open as it had swelled and scraped on the floor. Wifi was rubbish tbh, no bandwidth. Pool floor had a couple of tiles missing and my daughter cut her foot (not badly) on one of the edges. Shrubs around house all overgrown and so when it rained it was hard not to get wet whilst trying to walk past them. Other than that all good, but the place would definitely benefit from some TLC.

Great place to stay with the dogs.. Was a great base for our walking holiday to do some of the coastal walks and others around Devon. Would definitely stay again.

We had a wonderful weekend break during my sons chemotherapy treatment.. Owners were delightful and friendly, barn had everything we needed and lovely fresh eggs for breakfast from the lovely lady down the end of the lane. Would definitely recommend and come back.
