Butterwell Barn is a superbly presented and very well-equipped dog-friendly holiday home, nestled in the South Devon countryside, just a 10-minute drive from historic Dartmouth. Newly converted, this magnificent property accommodates up to 8 people in four en suite double bedrooms (two ‘master’ bedrooms with super-King size beds, and two bedrooms with ‘zip and link’ beds that can be singles, or joined to make super-King size beds on request). The property has a wonderful open plan kitchen/living/dining area, plus study, utility room and cloakroom. Outside there is plenty of parking for up to four cars plus a substantial stone terrace with garden table, sun loungers and large firepit/barbecue! Retaining much of its original character this delightful barn conversion perfect for extended family parties looking for a special break in picturesque surroundings.

Area
Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the stunning Start Bay coastline, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many popular events such as the annual Dart Music Festival, Dartmouth Food Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta. This historic town boasts interesting landmarks, such as Dartmouth Castle, the Britannia Royal Naval College, and the National Trust’s Greenway House just a short ferry ride away. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through the rolling countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat or ferry trip across to Kingswear, on to Brixham, or down the river to the village of Dittisham. For those seeking sandy beaches, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blackpool Sands and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular beaches just a stone's throw from Dartmouth.

There is parking for up to four cars (three in front of the barn and one in a designated space to the rear), and two EV chargers. Fully enclosed area of stone terrace with garden picnic table and bench seating. There are also 4 sun loungers, 4 deck chairs and a corner sofa set. Second visit to this beautiful property and gets better each time. Property was immaculate as always and even with Covid issues felt totaly safe with all the precautions in place. First class location and property. Gail & Phil are the perfect hosts and next year already booked.

We have just returned from a fabulous week at Butterwell Barn. We are a family of 7 with 2 large Newfound dogs and the open plan space inside and the secure area outside was perfect. This is our family’s 3rd trip to Devon and Butterwell Barn is by far the best holiday rental we have stayed in. The barn was furnished to an extremely high standard and was spotlessly clean. The owners Gail and Phil have thought of everything and I cannot recommend Butterwell Barn highly enough. We have already booked to return next summer.

Stayed at Butterwell Barn just after lockdown allowed stays with measures in place. Such a lovely warm welcome from Gail and Phil who had implemented all measures needed but without making it feel odd. What a place! Beautiful modern barn with everything you could ever need. Such a homely feel. Large open planned living with hotel quality bedrooms. Beautiful setting with Dartmouth a short drive away. I cannot recommend Butterwell Barn enough. We will definitely be back! We can't recommend Butterwell Barn enough! It's a beautifully converted holiday home in the heart of the Devonshire countryside. We loved exploring the local area, especially picturesque Dartmouth which is just a short drive away. Gail and Phil are wonderful hosts. The barn is immaculately clean and has been finished to a really high standard with incredible attention to detail. The beds felt like we were staying in a luxury hotel and we had some of the best night's sleep we've ever had! We loved it so much we've already booked to come back! We would recommend this place to anybody wanting a luxurious, comfortable base for a trip to the South West.

First visit to Butterwell barn, we have been visiting Devon for over 15 years and this is without a doubt the best property we have stayed in. Spotless and equiped with everything we could have needed. Gail & Phil were the perfect hosts, friendly and helpful, welcome hamper and fresh flowers a wonderful touch. Easy travel to Dartmouth and local towns/villages. A perfect get away. Already arranging a return visit.

A beautifully converted barn which has every home comfort you could wish for and more. Gail and Phil are perfect hosts, nothing is too much trouble and the welcome hamper was a lovely added touch. Would thoroughly recommend as a great base for a family or a group of friends and dogs.

The Barn is exceptionally well equipped.. Kitchen is great to cook for large groups. We thoroughly enjoyed our week and will certainly return. Watching the lambs gambol in the fields was idyllic.

This property is just perfect for a group of friends to escape for a relaxing break.. The welcome pack on arrival was really thoughtful and the scones were delicious. The quality of the furnishings and all other equipment is top notch. The overall attention to detail from the owners is second to none, they have thought of everything, even down to supplying doggie towels and a special bed for our four legged friend.

Gail and Phil Bond have made Butterwell Barn a wonderful holiday let.. The internal space is lovely; well thought out with fixtures and fittings of a high standard. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas, the welcome hamper was full of tasty treats and the owners couldn't have been more helpful!
