Townend is an elegant family house on the edge of the Devon village of South Zeal. The three storey house sleeps eleven people over two levels in four double bedrooms (one en suite), one twin and one single bedroom, with two bathrooms and a shower room. On the ground floor are a sitting room with wood burning stove, snug with wood burning stove, kitchen with dining area, scullery, hall and WC. On the top floor is a cinema room and children's’ playroom. Outside is a small enclosed garden with three acres of gardens beyond, an orchard and field and an outdoor unheated swimming pool for summer months. With the two pubs and shops nearby in South Zeal, Townend is a fantastic house for family holidays in Devon.

Shower room with shower, WC, basin, bathroom with bath, shower over, WC and basin, and bathroom with bath, hand held shower, WC and basin. Top floor super king double (or twin) bedroom. Cinema room. Children's playroom. Ground floor sitting room with wood burning stove. Kitchen with dining area. Scullery. Snug with wood burning stove. Downstairs WC with basin. Hall.

Area
Situated on the very Northern edge of Dartmoor National Park South Zeal is a wonderful location for keen walkers with some of the wildest parts of the moor within easy walking distance. With two pubs and a village shop South Zeal is a great base for exploring.

Region
Devon, with its quiet country lanes, patchwork of lush green fields and sleepy villages is not to be missed. Stately home lovers will be spoiled and why not finish with a scrumptious Devonshire cream tea?

Lovely house with everything you could need for a happy and comfortable stay. Plenty of room for everyone and the cinema room and pool table were a particular hit! Oxenham Arms in the village was a lovely venue for a Christmas meal.

Could not fault a single thing about this beautiful house. It had everything we needed and more! Cinema room for watching Euros and Wimbledon, sitting around and dipping in the pool made us feel like we were abroad! Fantastic walks from the door for all abilities. The pubs in the village were great and the small shop very well stocked. The gardens are amazing and the beds were so comfy. Would highly recommend.

Townend has pretty much everything required from a holiday cottage.. It's very spacious, huge bedrooms and bathrooms all over the place, big garden and pool. Beautiful views of the moors of Dartmoor rising over the village and visible from every room. Excellent shop (lovely granary bread) just down the road and two excellent pubs only a short stroll away, both with friendly cats to greet us. Wonderful!!

We enjoyed our stay in Townend.. The house was warm and comfortable with good facilities except for the lack of large casserole dishes and a hot plate that defeated all our attempts to use it because of complicated procedures required. The Aga was fine. Townend is a good place to stay as it a short journey to many interesting places.The owner and dog were friendly and helpful. We would stay there again.

I didn't have to deal with helpful holidays much at at all.. ... Everything was sorted smoothly with no hassle. Cottage was excellent and nothing disappointed... Amazing holiday in a beautiful location.

Just come back from a fantastic weeks holiday at Townend, the house had everything we wanted and more.. Our gransons loved the fact they could go upstairs to the cinema room to watch a film or play pool and then to the outside pool (which they did every day !! ). The owner Mike was on hand to help with anything as he is very approachable and accommodating. We had three families who all said that they would go back there tomorrow. Our youngest grandson cried on his first night as he wanted to stay at Townend for ever! .

The warm welcome.. The beautifully furnished house with all that is needed for a family holiday, rain or shine. Outdoors the pool, the football pitch, the cricket pitch, the barbecue; indoors the many games, the cinema, rowing machine etc etc. Much thought had been given to satisfy all tastes and interests. Lots of space! Brilliant!

We have been meeting as a family walking group for over 30 years.. This was a 1st trip to Dartmoor for most and exceeded everyones expectations. The holiday cottage was like an Aladdins cave. The kitchen and dining room was great for everyone to get together for a meal and there was enough room in the house to have your own space. Even the weather was perfect!!!

Lovely house that made a wonderful holiday even better. They really had thought of everything. From the playroom to the cinema room, huge garden and swimming pool, all ages were catered for. Good shop, pub and resturant nearby in the village. Would definately recommend.
