The beautiful lively town of Bideford, which straddles the Torridge estuary, offers a mediaeval bridge, town quay, tiny pannier market, and busy shopping centre, all of which are well worth a visit. The South West coast route passes close by on its way into Cornwall, and numerous major surfing beaches, golf courses, amusement parks, and other attractions are nearby for the more active. Clovelly, a picturesque cliff-top fishing village, is about half an hour away by car, while Exmoor and Dartmoor can be reached in under an hour.
