Area Located on the outskirts of the Peak District and only a few miles from Matlock, Wirksworth is a small but charming market town. Beautiful architecture, such as the town's splendid parish church, gives Wirksworth a lot of personality. The Puzzle Gardens' historic "jitties" and courtyards are popular tourist destinations, as are the adjacent Heritage Centre and the beautiful scenery, which includes Carsington Water, Black Rocks, and the High Peak Trail. All skill levels can enjoy rock climbing and cycling here, and the walking is superb. During the month of May, Wirksworth celebrates the distinctive Derbyshire tradition of Well Dressing by combining it with a colourful carnival. Every year in September, the city hosts an annual Arts festival with a fantastic Art & Architecture Trail, presenting contemporary art and a wide variety of foreign performers. There's a variety of restaurants to try, as well as a small, independent cinema decorated in art deco style. The Eco Centre, the National Stone Centre, and the Mount Cook Adventure Centre are only some of the recreational facilities available in town. Fresh vegetables and handiwork are sold in the weekly market and the monthly farmers' market. Matlock Bath, with its amazing cable car, the historic Ecclesbourne Valley Railway, and Gulliver's Kingdom are also within driving distance. Two miles away in Cromford is the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site, which should not be missed. When it comes to vacation destinations, Wirksworth checks all the boxes.

The Old Post Office is a lovely large house perfect for our large family get away. The owner contacted us before our stay to ensure we had his details should there be any problems. The location is a little village on the edge of the Peak District with a pub just 50 meters from the front door. The hot tub was a lovely addition and great for warming up after winter walks. A really nice welcome pack was waiting for us in the kitchen when we arrived. All in all we will certainly return and can highly recommended.

Kitchen was dirty.
Top oven kept tripping out electrics
Dishwasher broken.
Door on onside bathroom broken.
Black mould in 2 of the bedroom
Don't bother complaining to the owner he will lie. Say you didn't let him know. He would of fixed the problem. Or that he sent someone to fix the problem
Sykes knew the problem about the electrics tripping out. Strange the place has the same problem in October/November. Avoid
