Area
Great Longstone, a charming village in Derbyshire, is located in the Peak District National Park in a fantastic setting. With Longstone Edge on either side, Bakewell, and Chatsworth House nearby, Great Longstone enjoys a privileged location. The village has two classic local inns, a store, stone homes from the 18th century, and a market cross that is placed on the charming village green. The eight and a half miles of picturesque, traffic-free walking and biking on the Monsal Trail, which passes through the village, are made up of various tunnels as well as the magnificent viaduct at Monsal Head, which will keep the whole family entertained. The picture-postcard village of Ashford-in-the-Water is just down the road. It has a historic Sheepwash Bridge, which was formerly a key location for packhorses crossing the River Wye on their way to bring mail from Derby. Many stores, eateries, and pubs may be found in the nearby, well-known market town of Bakewell, which is reachable along the Monsal Trail. Farmers' markets are also held there frequently. Take a stroll along the riverbank to observe the "love locks" on the footbridge and to feed the ducks and geese. The spa city of Buxton, home to the Opera House, is also reachable by car. All of the nearby stately homes, including the well-known Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, and Hardwick Hall, are easily accessible. You might also travel to the Richard Arkwright Mills World Heritage Site in Cromford. You will be spoiled for choice at this great location because of the nearby spectacular castle and caverns at Castleton.
