The barn is situated right next to the farmyard so you can easily see and hear the cows in the milking sheds. We loved it and wish we'd had time for a farm tour. Plenty of parking for 4 cars. Inside the barn there was so much space, even for 9 adults (aged between 28 and 89) and a lively 14-month old with a walker. The accommodation is very well laid out, with wide spaces everywhere for people with mobility problems, and everywhere is very clean and appears new, even the oven appears to have hardly been used. All rooms felt warm which is sometimes unusual with a barn conversion. Kitchen is extremely well equipped with plenty of glasses, mugs, plates, bowls, saucepans etc and we really enjoyed cooking a big lamb curry in the kitchen and breakfast every morning. Plenty of empty cupboard space in the kitchen and all bedrooms. The welcome pack of milk and cake was very much appreciated and there was also tea, coffee & sugar. There are 2 staircases (in the lounge and the hallway) and upstairs you can walk from one end of the barn to the other by going through the 2x twin bedrooms. There are 2x bathrooms upstairs (one at each end) and a bathroom and cloakroom downstairs. We all thought the beds were very comfortable. I would really recommend the Barn and hope we get another chance to come back. The only thing to bear in mind is that if you have very young children there is only one stair gate supplied and it doesn't fit on the staircase in the lounge so you might spend a lot of time trying to prevent little ones from getting up the stairs. This wasn't a problem for us as we were on holiday and chilled out and there were plenty of adults on child duty but could be a problem for another family. If you're not into farm smells and noises (ie cows mooing and a cockerel crowing) then don't book accommodation on a farm! Beautiful countryside and loads to do for all the family in the local area. Not sure if it's possible to walk to any pubs or shops though (as you'd have to walk along some fairly narrow lanes without pavements) and Wirksworth is definitely a drive away. I'd check with the owners first if this is important to you.
