Lovely cottage, with fab open plan layout downstairs and nicely decorated bedrooms, en suite and bathroom upstairs.. A great garden well equipped with hot tub and barbecue.
Very quiet village location (not to be confused with the larger Pilsley near the Chatsworth estate), convenient base for cycling, walking and enjoying the beautiful towns of the Peak District. 40-60mins from Bakewell, Buxton, Matlock, Tissington Trail etc, so good base location. Cottage also situated right next to the Five Pits Trail which is suitable for walkers, cyclists and pushchairs and easy circular walks accessible around the surrounding villages.
No pubs in close walking distance that serve food, but plenty of lovely pubs a short drive away - a car is necessary here if you want to get out and visit local areas.
The owner who lives in the main farmhouse next door is lovely, and more than happy to help with anything and french bulldogs Ronnie and Reggie provided our 18mth old with lots of entertainment.
If we had one downside and it is only the one, the floorboards upstairs in the cottage were incredibly creaky, making putting a toddler to bed very tricky - something to consider if travelling with a small one who is easily disturbed.
All in all a lovely place to stay, and we would visit again and definitely recommend!
Thanks Jane and Mark
