This is a lovely place to stay, ideally suited for exploring the Buxton / Bakewell area of the Peak District.. Very good value for money, comfortable, well looked after, friendly & helpful onsite owners, Covid compliant, Would stay there again. Upstairs accommodation, access via a staircase that may be a problem for people with mobility issues.

Great location as it's right on the main road from Buxton to Bakewell (but quiet too) which makes it about half an hour in all directions for great places to explore. Wonderful cottage, exceptionally clean and well equipped.. Comfortable bed, great facilities and a good living space (comfortable and spacious). A lovely secluded location on the edge of the village with beautiful views over the hills and fields. The cottage is very well located either for walks directly from it (with easy access to the Monsel Trail among other walks) or for driving further afield for other walks. It is easy to get to local shops and restaurants (a short drive away). Lesley and Mick could not have been more welcoming and provided helpful hints around the cottage to help us in our stay. Would highly recommend to anybody wanting a break away from the world.

A beautiful, tastefully decorated cottage with all creature comforts in excellent working order: hot showers after our long walks, a central heating system which provided cosy warmth within minutes, a woodburner for a quiet evening in front of the fire, a well-stocked kitchen for those who want to stay in and cook, and great pubs in walking (and easy driving) distance.. It's the little touches and thoughtfulness which make this place so special: the ice-cubes for the G&Ts, the short bread welcoming us on arrival, Lesley's helpful yet unobtrusive hospitality. It's a great base for walkers who want to leave the car at home, with walks starting at the door step, but also a good touring base for those who want to explore the Peak District. We loved this cottage and the area so much, we're already planning our return trip in 2020!

Superb little bolt hole in a excellent location.. 10 minutes from Buxton and Bakewell, and on the doorstep of some fantastic walks. Pub around the corner (10 minute walk), which serves food and is very reasonably priced. The lodge was great, with an ample sized bedroom, ensuite and living room/kitchen, with the owners leaving a nice welcome pack of tea/biscuits and wine! We will be recommending this lodge to our friends/family if they want a break to the Peak District - Thank you!

Horsemill Lodge is an ideal place to stay.. Very quiet. Located next to the owners home. It has it's own private gated parking space. The apartment is of a high standard and is extremely clean and spacious. A large shower room. And very comfortable bed. Lesley and Mick the owners are there if needed but do not intrude and leave you to enjoy your time there. Close to Buxton and Bakewell. Surrounded by beautiful scenery and countryside in a quiet village. Everything you could wish for. We will definitely return next year.

We have stayed here 4 times now and each time has been a lovely experience .. The accommodation is in a lovely setting and is a joy to return back to after our days out in the Derbyshire Peak District. We are getting use to the local area and are finding lots of walks on the doorstep of this property . The siting of this property within the Peak District is very central so various landmarks are easy to reach with a short car journey which is nice that you haven't got to be in the car for long treks . Plenty of trails about where you can walk or Bike ride traffic free. The property is certainly a place we will be coming back to it is clean well kept and very comfortable with nice owners who are in the background if you need them .

This holiday home with lovely views of the surrounding countryside from the upper floor accommodation is very well designed to give 1st class living.. Very clean and well equipped and secure. Lesley & Mick did all we needed to be welcoming and left us essentials in the home (like shortbread, tea, coffee, milk etc etc). We arrived to find the surroundings snow covered and even more picturesque then our memories of the Peak District allowed. The next too short days we were exploring the nearby dales and visited villages and views we wish we had more time to enjoy. Horse Mill Lodge was a very cosy cottage with wonderful views (very snowy when we arrived).. It was very well equipped and was always warm, with or without the wood-burning stove going. We liked the village of Taddington where we received a warm welcome in the local pub, The Queen's Head. It was an ideal base from which to explore Derbyshire.

Horse Mill Lodge is simply the best place we have ever stayed in within the UK.. This was our first Christmas away from home and it exceeded all our expectations. The little touches such as a fibre optic Christmas tree, mince pies and mulled wine all added to our enjoyment. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Horse Mill Lodge. The owner met us on arrival and quickly showed us round before leaving us to our own devices, with tea, coffee, milk and biscuits. A lovely touch. The photos do not do this property justice. It is spacious, light, incredibly comfy and spotlessly clean throughout. We were impressed with the size of the bedroom & bathroom and the storage available. The kitchen was well equipped and we genuinely wanted for nothing. Fantastic views from all windows and a perfect location for exploring Derbyshire. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Horse Mill Lodge and will definitely be returning.

Although there seems to be little in Taddington itself, this property is a great base for travelling around the peak district. The apartment has been well thought out with windows on all four sides making the best of those lovely views. There was a generous amount of starter logs for the log burner and a decent sized freezer which is always useful. Horse Mill Lodge was generally well equipped (just a few items in the kitchen department we would have found useful). Just a few yards away is a bus stop that takes you into Bakewell (£6.50 return) and to Buxton if you felt like leaving the car behind.

The owners were very friendly and accommodating and made us feel at home when we arrived and then left us to it. We tried three local pubs for evening meals and we had our best meal at the Waterloo, a quiet pub but with a very friendly landlord with a lot of local knowledge.

We stayed at Horse Mill Lodge in April. It is a delightful property, quiet but well situated for visits to Bakewell and Buxton, for example. The owners have furnished the property to a very high standard, and have thought of everything that you might need. They are friendly, and recommended places to visit, eat etc. All accomodation is on the first floor, so visitors would need to be comfortable with stairs. We can personally vouch for the excellent fish and chips from the mobile van that visits the village one evening each week!

The cottage was in a lovely village with fabulous views from the first floor accommodation and was just off the A6, so was very convenient to travel to nearby Buxton and Bakewell. There were many lovely villages in the area .

Horse Mill Lodge is a very well equipped cottage containing everything that we needed. The fittings are very modern and of excellent quality. We found the cottage to be very well placed to walk from the doorstep, as we did several times. It is also well placed for car visits to nearby towns of Bakewell and Buxton. There are a couple of pubs in the village which are adequate but we did not use them much at all. The weather was quite wet and cool but the log burner was brilliant in the evenings. Overall, we had a really good week and would recommend this cottage.

The location was absolutely perfect for exploring the surrounding area with it being only 15 minutes to both Buxton and Bakewell. The cottage had recently been done up to an extremely high standard and can not fault it in any way. This was the first time we had visited the Peak District and were very pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the area. The cottage we stayed in was finished to the very highest standard and ideally situated between Buxton and Bakewell. Both my wife and I would not hesitate in recommending Horse Mill Lodge to anyone who might be thinking of looking for a cottage with perfect views, welcoming owners and extremely comfortable accommodation.

Stayed at Horse Mill Lodge in early July, it’s a great newly converted one bedroom apartment finished to a very high standard with hardwood floors in the lounge, bedroom and bathroom and with stunning views over the Peak District. With all you need for a great holiday including a flat screen TV with built in DVD player, ceramic top cooker, microwave, dishwasher and large fridge/freezer, and should it be cold, a wood burning stove with plenty of wood is there for your use, backed up with central heating. Fresh flowers in lounge and chocolate biscuits, tea, coffee and milk in the kitchen. The lodge comes with a private parking area with two different seating areas one with a table and portable BBQ. The owners live next door and were very helpful, suggesting a number of places to go. Apartment has loads of tourist info and maps and some DVDs. The local pub and fantastic views of the Peak district are a short walk away.
