Venture up and out the back steps to find a secluded garden area with patio table and chairs. Gritstone Cottage rests in the heart of the village, a welcoming retreat for all the family to enjoy. There is an old 17th Century market hall in the town centre and a modern leisure centre with swimming pool nearby. Bakewell is situated within the Peak District National Park. Both the rugged Dark Peak and the softer limestone White Peak are within easy reach. There are many stately homes to visit including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall. Take a trip to Buxton and visit the Edwardian Opera House, designed by Frank Matcham, who also designed the London Palladium.
