Cottage in Cumbria in Wasdale Head, Cumbria

Description
Embrace the unspoilt landscape of one of the most iconic valleys in the Lake District National Park, choosing this pretty cottage as the base for your family or friendship group. The working farm setting at the top of Wasdale adds to the overall charm, but the spellbinding scenery is what makes this location so special. Great Gable, Yewbarrow and Kirk Fell are just a few of the exciting options available for adventurous walkers, but the true adrenaline enthusiasts among you will relish the chance to scale Scafell Pike 0.5 miles away. Take a stroll around Wastwater, one of England s deepest lakes, pausing for a picnic and perhaps a swim at various spots along the shoreline and enjoying the thrill of wild swimming at such a memorable location. There is a nearby activity centre offering climbing, kayaking and canoeing experiences, but you may prefer just to sit back and admire the views over a flask of coffee. Leave your muddy shoes in the porch and step inside to find the dining room, a comfortable setting for leisurely meals and board games around the table that seats six. Next, the surprisingly contemporary kitchen is handily equipped with everything you need for your stay including an electric cooker, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave and storage. You ll also find a useful downstairs WC by the rear door. An open fire crackles invitingly in the lounge, so you ll be sorely tempted to curl up on the sofas and armchairs ready to share a bottle of wine. There is a TV/DVD for evening entertainment, and when it is time for bed you ll discover your sleeping quarters upstairs along with a family bathroom with a shower over the bath and WC. Both double bedrooms have been finished in a simple country cottage style with beds and bedroom furniture, and the quirky triple bedroom has three single beds. Although there are technically seven sleeping spaces, the design of the property accommodates a total of six guests only. Wi Fi may not be included, but this quintessential abode provides a digital detox. Outside, the pretty garden boasts mature shrubbery and superb views across to Great Gable from the patio. There is garden furniture for al fresco dining, and ample parking is available. On the nights you don t feel like cooking, there are three pubs nearby serving delicious local fare and ales within 0.5 miles. There is ample off road parking in the farmyard at the back of the cottage.
