Across the river is Fitz Park with a fantastic children's playground and tennis courts and Keswick Museum. Spend the day exploring Derwentwater by steamer or rowing boat; tackle the climb up Scafell Pike, England s highest mountain; or take an underground tour at Honister Slate Mine, 9 miles away the brave amongst you can attempt the Via Ferrata. Just 5 miles away Whinlatter Forest Park has graded cycling and walking trails for all abilities, a popular cafe and play park, and thrill seekers will love the high ropes course. The ancient and mysterious Castlerigg Stone Circle sits just above the town and well worth a visit. Penrith is 17 miles away and is the largest town in the area with a good mixture of independent and high street shops as well as many places to eat. Through a set of French doors, enter the ground floor of this cottage, bright with natural light. The living room has a comfortable five seater leather corner settee, and matching leather armchair perfect for gathering everyone together. On chilly evenings light the gas fire and settle down for a cosy evening, watching a DVD as your dog snoozes in front of the flickering flames. The well stocked kitchen includes a gas oven and four ring hob, dishwasher, microwave, freestanding fridge freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. The dining room adjoins the living room and the table seats up to seven guests, ideal for sociable meals at any time of day. Upstairs, the super king size bedroom can be made up as a twin room and has a small TV for those lazy mornings. A further double bedroom, two shower rooms and a separate WC completes the first floor. The attic room (available on request and at an additional charge) is accessed via a permanent ladder from the first floor with twin beds, suitable for adults and children over 15. A huge TV is available, but only works with a gaming system, so be sure to bring the Playstation or Xbox. Set in the heart of the market town of Keswick, you have a range of wonderful independent shops, eateries and attractions all on your doorstep. There is a private parking area for two cars.
