Based in the heart of the Lake District, the small town of Ambleside has become a major tourist hotspot with shops, a cinema, a large selection of restaurants and pubs. The town adjoins the lake ferry at Waterhead Pier, offering journeys to Bowness and Lakeside pier near Newby Bridge, Wray Castle and Brockhole Visitor Centre. A short stroll from the centre of the town leads to Stock Ghyll Force, a spectacular 70 foot waterfall, whilst the 17th century Bridge House is also nearby.
