Ghyll Bank Byre is one of 5 holiday lets on the site, 3 of which are part of an old barn.. Ghyll Bank Byre is the largest of the 3, having 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The property is accessed via an uphill single track road with passing places and has a very sharp hairpin bend, so not suitable for very large vehicles like motor homes. The view from the property is brilliant in every direction and cannot be faulted. We were very lucky with the weather in September.
The property itself is very good but let down by a few things which is a pity, but in my view if these things were rectified it would be superb. The main issue is that it needs a deep clean and re-painting in places, which is surprising given that it would not have been used for most of this season due to Covid-19. Things like the table mats, plates and cushions need replacing as they look like they are cast offs from several years ago. The outside furniture is good and the quality of the furniture inside is good.
In spite of our grumbles above we had a lovely holiday. There are lots of walks from the property and a great bakery and cafe on a small business park in Staveley. Booths supermarket is very good and easy to get to in Windermere with free parking for 2 hours.
One other thing to bear in mind is that the WiFi was very patchy.
