The Stable is a barn conversion located on a working farm in the Eden Valley in Cumbria, 3 miles from the village of Maulds Meaburn. The cottage sleeps six people in three bedrooms - one ground floor king-size double, one double and one twin. There are also a ground floor bathroom and first floor shower room. The living accommodation comprises a fitted kitchen with dining area, utility and sitting room with open fire and French windows to an outdoor patio area. There is ample off road parking. With the lovely scenery of the Eden Valley within easy reach and the Lake District within touring distance, The Stable makes a great base for a relaxing holiday.

Area
Maulds Meaburn is a rural village in the Lyvennet Valley, in an ideal position for exploring the Eden Valley and Lake District. Nearby Appleby-in-Westmorland is an easy drive away and is at the heart of the beautiful Eden Valley. It is also a chief stop on the Settle-to-Carlisle Railway line. Penrith and the stunning Lake District are within easy reach.

Just stayed for a week at the Stable. Really nice property, converted from the former stable block. There’s a four poster (double), a downstairs double and an upstairs twin room. Loads of amenities, including all the kitchen kit you’d ever need. Fridge, freezer, washing machine and dryer. Couldn’t have asked for a nicer property, and the location is stunning. Topped off with six Shetland’s in the field next door who’ll gladly trade carrots for patting.

The cottage contained everything we needed for a comfortable, restful break.. It's well located and enables easy access to the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales. The owners are very welcoming and were on hand if we needed anything during our stay. We would definitely recommend and are planning to visit again next year!

Nigel and Christine were very welcoming.. We arrived on a cold dreich day. The fire was lit and the couple ensured that we were settled in before leaving us in peace. If it's a quiet peaceful retreat you're after then look no further. All in all, we liked the place so much that we bought it--only kidding! However, on arrival to Scotland, we rebooked. That I feel sums up our confidence and feelings for the cottage and the couple who run it.

A very peaceful spot, and lovely welcome by the owners - Mr and Mrs Jackson.. ( with a tiny bit of updating it would be PERFECTION - and you can't say that about many places - including home!!) This is an ideal location with beautiful places to visit in any direction. The community pub, in nearby Crosby Ravensworth has good food and beer and is very welcoming - will probably need to book. After many weeks of hot sun we had some wet days, but it didn't spoil our holiday. You just need the correct clothes! We would not hesitate to book The Stables again

The placed we stayed was super comfortable and the overall experience was brilliant from the time we booked the cottage until we left.. It's located in middle of farm far from the crowd yet is reachable within all tourist attractions.The owners were in touch through out and gave us tips about the places to visit.Definitely recommend this place for a comfy and peaceful stay.

We loved the location as it was quiet and off the beaten track.. Short drives to the various walking points like Glenridding and Pooley Bridge for walks around Ullswater, Buttermere and Haweswater. Eating out in the evening was a problem except for the Chippy about 10 mins drive, and 20 mins to the George & Dragon, an excellent restaurant. The cottage had all the home comforts, a well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. Both Mr and Mrs Jackson were most welcoming and helpful during our stay. We would love to return to The Stables! Thank you very much to you all at Sykes Cottages.

Lovely welcome from owners. Great welcome basket waiting for us when we arrived. House very comfortable and spacious with plenty of room for our three children to play. Also very well equipped including little touches like bubble bath, shower gel and hand soap in bathrooms. Lovely outlook, very quiet and restful. Easy access to main roads. We never travelled more than an hour to whatever activity we had chosen each day including to Morecambe and into The Lake District. Our eldest daughter was fascinated by the tame chicken called Henrietta, but whom she christened Henny Penny. We hope to return next year.
