Mrs Williams
March 2019
The cottage is in a beautiful location and is small but perfectly formed.. Sarah met us on arrival and was very friendly and helpful and showed us around the cottage. We loved the little welcome touches - it was my husbands birthday the day we arrived and a 'happy birthday' banner greeted us as well as a bottle of wine and biscuits, and some dog treats from Marte (Sarah's dog) for our two dogs. There were fresh flowers throughout the cottage and we liked that the wifi code was readily available too. The cottage has a selection of books, maps, dvd's and a craft box for rainy days but we had such lovely weather, we spent most of our time outside. We had dinner at the village pub on our first night and it was lovely, just a 5 minute walk away. The woods alongside the property are great and have a few little secrets to reveal, our dogs loved playing in there - we wish we had had time to use the bbq hut too, maybe next time! I think the listing is a little misleading stating the woods cover 2 acres, it's about half that but still a pleasure to stroll through. We enjoyed sitting out at night listening to the birds and star gazing, it was very tranquil. We did a couple of walks in the surrounding area and were so pleased to have visited the expansive and beautiful Allonby beach - as recommended by Sarah - we pretty much had the place to ourselves, and on a Saturday too! The dogs loved it! As a whole, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The cottage, the only drawback for me, and this is purely personal preference, is that the mattress on the double bed is very hard. Thank you very much Sarah and we hope to see you again soon.
