Buttermere is a ground floor, eco-friendly cottage sleeping four people, with two double bedrooms – one amply sized with space for a wheelchair. It includes an open plan kitchen/lounge/dining area with electric cooker, microwave and fridge/freezer, as well as a wood-burning stove. Buttermere also boasts a beautiful outdoor terrace area equipped with furniture and private parking for one car. Sitting within ten acres of land, the cottage is surrounded by woodland, meadows and a pond with an abundance of wildlife on the doorstep. Buttermere Cottage is three miles from the towns of Cockermouth and Lorton, both filled with shops and restaurants, and just a six-mile drive from the quieter western lakes, including Ennerdale, winner of Britain's Best View. Area
Cockermouth is a small market town located in the north-western part of the Lake District. Cockermouth offers a variety pubs, shops and eateries. The main attraction in the area are the many walking opportunities available and William Wordsworth's Georgian family home. Nearby is the town of Keswick which also has loads to offer!

Region
Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

Private off-road parking for one car, with further space across the stream. Outside terrace area with furniture. One dog welcome. Fully equipped for the disabled with Mobility grade 1 and 2 awarded and therefore suitable for accompanied wheelchair users (Please note there is not complete provision for wheelchair users on their own). Cots and highchairs available. Nearest shops and restaurants are 3 miles away in Cockermouth.

As regulars visitors to the Lake district, Buttermere was the best self-catering accommodation so far.. Lovely log burning fire, quality fixtures and fittings, quality cooking utensils and cutlery etc. The space is warm, bright, open and airy and there's plenty of room for 4 guests. The bedrooms were fitted out with good quality bedding and there is lots of storage space. Nice big bathroom with plenty of hot water. Outside there is tables and chairs where you can sit and watch the wildlife. Buttermere is surrounded by quiet countryside just a short drive from the Lake District's main attractions. Just a couple of minor areas for improvement. Although the whole place was spotless, a few cobwebs on the ceilings and please set the heating to come on, the morning or night before arrival (especially if the forecast is below 0). We don't often return to the same place but we will be returning to Buttermere, sometime in the future. Thanks for a lovely 5 night, relaxing break.

Buttermere Cottage is superb.. It was everything we hoped for and more. Such comfortable beds, and a well equipped kitchen. Completely suitable for those less mobile, and those for whom mobility is not a problem. It meant that we could enjoy our little escape with our 91 year old mum completely inclusively, which was a joy. Eco friendly too, and with lots of little extras left by the owner; who was so thoughtful. The grounds are wonderful to walk around, completely safe and secure for our little dog. We had the most lovely time, and are sure to return.

Splendid accommodation.. Everything there in the kitchen one could possibly need. Rather hoped both bedrooms would initially look similar but one was definitely better looking than the other. Car parking excellent and walks through the grounds to the pool early morning was heavenly. Thank you

We felt very comfortable and relaxed here, good open aspect enjoyed the views through the large windows in the main living area. A walk around the paths leading to the pond are worth exploring and a glass of wine whilst watching the sun go down from the summer house positioned at the top of the pond shouldn't go amiss either.
