This lovely stone-built mid terrace cottage is located on a working livestock farm in the rural hamlet of Milton. Situated just two miles from Brampton, this cottage is a careful renovation of one of the old farm buildings. Retaining original beams and exposed stonework, this welcoming property features a cosy lounge with adjacent summer room, a small modern kitchen, and a pretty main bedroom, making this an ideal romantic retreat. Guests can also enjoy the decked balcony, with its fabulous countryside views.

All ground floor. One double bedroom. Bathroom with bath, shower over, basin & WC. Kitchen. Small sitting area with woodburner, adjoining summer room with dining area & doors to decked area.

Area
Ideally placed for exploring northern Cumbria, the little hamlet of Milton is set close to numerous attractions including Hadrians Wall, the Solway Firth and the Lake District National Park. With a rich and colourful history, the market town of Brampton dates back to the Roman occupation, and boasts evidence of Scottish border raids and the Jacobite uprising. Apparently, even Bonnie Prince Charlie was a fan of the town, establishing his headquarters in what is now a shop. Just a few miles away is the Talkin Tarn Country Park. Covering 180 acres, the Tarn - a 10,000 year old glacial lake - accounts for 65 acres and is fed by underwater springs. Slightly further south, visitors can take a trip to Gelt Woods - an ancient woodland set along the banks of the River Gelt.

Shared use (with seven other cottages on site) of summerhouse & hot tub all year round at £40 per week or £20 per short break, payable direct to owner on arrival (use is by direct arrangement with owner). Decked balcony area with furniture & BBQ. Ample off road parking. One well-behaved dog welcome at £10 per week. Sorry, no smoking. Shop and pub 2 miles. Note: There is a railway line approx 250 metres from the cottage. Some noise is audible when trains pass. Note: The Stable is accessed via 2 flights of approx 7 steps

Very small living quarters the pictures make it look bigger.. Bed was suppose to be a double but was more like 4ft very cold accomadation and my partner had to sleep on floor.Miles away from anywhere and the area is a hole.

Stayed in the small cottage 'The Stable' 2 adults and dog Excellent little place to stay. The cottage is perfect size for a couple. Clean, warm, well equipped and welcoming. Great location for exploring the area, Gretna 25 mins away, Carlisle 15 mins away, hadrians wall 20 mins away. Will definitely be returning for a break in the summer!

I absolutely loved my stay at the stable.. It was really cosy, clean and in the most perfect location for walking through the rspb reserve, gelt woods, talkin tarn etc. However I was without WiFi’s until Tuesday and I had arrived on Friday. It was resolved in the end and the lady did try her best to fix it, I should found it frustrating as I expected to have access to wifi throughout the stay. I didn’t enjoy spending the amount of time I did messing on with box trying to get it working. in addition I felt a few more supplies were needed in the cottage, washing up tablets, tea, coffee, spare batteries for the tv as I had to make extra trips out as these ran out or weren’t available during my stay. But besides the WiFi, the location and other facilities were lovely.

Basic base for sleeping and exploring the area, nothing special about this at all. Curtain tie backs hanging off the wall, and coming out of the wall at times. No vacuum cleaner, fence nearly falling down in the garden. Absolute nothing to do anywhere near this place. No paths to wall on, to take the dog for a walk. Garden not private (still dog mess from the previous canine occupant). Located on a working farm, so farmer and tractor constantly going backwards and forwards near to garden. Owner say you can take your dog down to the field, but to do this, you have to walk past farm sheepdogs, half hanging out of what looks like very small, rough kennels (did not even look large enough to be classed as kennels), which I found upsetting. Not particularly friendly owners. Would not go back, and would not recommend. Photos on Sykes are misleading.

Lovely cottage, excellent centre for visiting different areas, Lakes, Hadrians Wall, beautiful countryside all around.. Great local pubs at Hallbankgate and Talkin. Will definitely go back.

A lovely cottage with great view of sunset from the deck.. Great walks nearby and a very relaxing quiet location. There is a train track for the little local trains and we found it more interesting than distracting when the "very occasional" little train trundled past. Quite quaint actually. The cottage and buildings are quite lovely and gardens well maintained. Frankly we will go again as it is a perfect base to tour the area. Highly recommend this little cottage. We stayed as a couple in the Stable Cottage in Milton near Brampton, Cumbria for 4 days 3 nights with small dog and use of the hot tub in February 2017. A very warm and friendly welcome with helpful advice on how to use the equipment installed.. Lots of local information and advice on where to go and what to see. We were free to walk our dog around the farm - on his lead, of course - and call at the 'big house' if we needed anything at all. Mabel and John work hard on both the farm and making their guests feel welcome. We have come away feeling relaxed and chilled. Thank you Mabel and John.

Lovely little cottage, good for a couple. Nice hot tub and friendly owners. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting places; Coniston Water especially, however we are happy drivers and although there is things to do not too far from the cottage some of the main lakes and attractions are a good hour away.

The cottage was very clean, homely, cosy and the fire kept it really warm. I loved the bath which was massive! The bed was also really comfortable. We had such a relaxing week and the hot tub was great for having a drink and getting a look at the stars which are amazing on a clear night! Really lovely, friendly and helpful owner as well. Also, Spring was a great time to go as there were lambs pottering around just at the end of the garden - so cute.

The owner was very nice woman who was there to greet us when we arrived and showed us around, there was a bundle of leaflets for various attractions and take aways and she showed us how to work the log fire which is lovely but we found doesn't give off that much heat however the hearing was on all the time so we weren't cold. The kitchen is cosy and fully equipped, the bathroom is lovely and large, the bedroom is big but the only quibble was the fridge rattled a bit so took me a while to ignore that on the first night. The lounge is cosy but slightly old fashioned decor. The conservatory is lovely to have a meal in the evening with a gorgeous view. There is a Trainline very close to the house but I only heard it once in a 5 day stay. There is also an outdoor patio area to eat if the weather permits. The hot tub is massive and fits 8 people and easy to use but it's not very private and your sharing it with 2 other cottages adjoined to yours. It was lovely to go in though. The summer house is large and warm and has a large stack of DVDs and a small TV so you can sit in there and relax. There's also a cross trainer in there. I'd definitely come back here again and recommend it to others.
