Buttermere village is made up of two pubs, a café, farm and ice cream parlour and the occasional sheep trotting past.
The shingled shores of Buttermere lake are just a few minutes walk from the cottage and the 4 mile circuit around the lake is a delightful child friendly walk taking in beautiful surroundings. Keswick, 10 miles away, offers plenty for the whole family; hire a rowing boat, take a cruise on the Keswick Launch, enjoy a performance at Theatre by the Lake or try the local fare in one of the town's many eateries.
