Pennington is a small hamlet with homes, farms, and country pubs on the Lake District Peninsula, an area of tranquilly, gentle hills, and unspoiled walking country. The twin pubs at Great Urswick Tarn are known for their fine ales and good food. Ulverston, Pennington's neighbour, holds a street market every Thursday and Saturday. Today, the town is known as a "Festival Town" with events year-round and as the birthplace of Stan Laurel - it's home to the only Laurel and Hardy museum in the world. Shops, pubs, restaurants, a cinema, and a leisure centre are available. All National Park attractions are accessible. Furness Coast has sandy beaches and birdwatching. Furness Abbey, Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, South Lakes Wild Animal Park, Conishead Priory, Holker Hall, and Muncaster Castle are nearby.
