The Old Laundry is an outstanding, ground floor, semi-detached courtyard cottage in the desirable hamlet of Clappersgate, just one mile from Ambleside in the heart of the Lakes and can sleep four people. There are two double bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms and an open plan living area with kitchen, breakfast bar and sitting area with a gas fire. Outside there is off road parking for one car and a shared, lawned garden with furniture located across the main road. The Old Laundry is a wonderful holiday base.

All ground floor. Two double bedrooms with en-suite wet-room with shower, basin and WC. Open plan living area with kitchen, breakfast bar (seats 4) and sitting area with gas fire.

Area
Given its excellent position at the northern tip of Lake Windermere - England's largest lake - Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes. The town itself is famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th Century 'Bridge House' - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District.

Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

Gas central heating and gas fire. Electric oven and gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, wine cooler, washer/dryer, dishwasher, TV with FreeSat, DVD, WiFi. Fuel and power inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Off road parking for 2 cars. Shared, lawned garden with furniture located across main road. Two well-behaved dogs welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Shop and pub 1 mile. Note: Cottage is located near a well-used road so care should be taken and some road noise may be heard in garden. Note: The access to the river is through a small wicket gate and the garden is approached via 20 steps. Note: No infants allowed. Note: Beds are accessed from one side only.

We were kept informed of any changes to conditions, given the opportunity to rearrange our dates and kept up to date with restrictions set by the government. The accommodation was fabulous, we were contacted by the owners prior to our holiday to reassure us of all the precautions taken. Thank you to all concerned.

Our stay at the Old Laundry was great.. We appreciated how immaculately the cottage was presented on our arrival. The facilities were top notch and we loved the access to the forest behind the cottage for our dog, too. The owner checked in with us via email prior to, and once during our stay which we thought was a really lovely touch. Would highly recommend as a comfortable and luxurious base that’s perfectly situated for exploring the Lakes!

The Old Laundry is the perfect place to stay and is in the perfect location to explore this beautiful part of the country.. We were the first to stay following the easing of lockdown restrictions and every effort had been made to ensure our comfort and safety. The private riverside garden was beautiful and we spent a lovely week enjoying the local and surrounding areas. Highly recommended.

The cottage was lovely, my only complaint, is that there wasn’t a toilet roll in either of the bathrooms.. I always bring some as I didn’t expect there to be any spares in the bathrooms. Although I thought there would be one in each of the bathrooms to start with.

The cottage was in a fantastic location, only 10-15 min walk into Ambleside.. The cottage was perfect. It was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. It was well equipped and furnished to a very high standard. The private garden on the waters edge was a delight - perfect on a lovely sunny evening. The Old Laundry is a beautiful cottage located a short walk away from bustling Ambleside.. It has a private riverside garden too which is just perfect for picnics or your morning coffee. Although the cottage is full of charm with tasteful decor, it also has modern amenities which only add to your comfort.

We were really impressed with the quality of the cottage and its equipment.. The T.V was extremely good, as was the cooking equipment. The cottage is really well situated in the quiet courtyard but very handy for Ambleside. We would definitely stay again.

We loved this cottage, spotlessly clean on arrival and had everything we needed and more.. Very comfortable beds, with nice lounge area and kitchen. Close to Ambleside and plenty of cafes and places to eat. Lots of local dog walks nearby, both flat and hilly. We’ll definitely be returning!

The cottage is very comfortable with all the mod cons you could wish for.. Ideally situated for Ambleside and many walking trails to do. Lots of cafes and restaurants with excellent food.

Located within a 10 minute walk from Ambleside, this beautiful cottage has everything you could need for a relaxing and stress free holiday. All mod cons including a wine cooler and underfloor heating in the bathroom. Beds are very comfortable and the inglenook in the living area gives a cosy atmosphere at night. Location makes it very easy to take advantage of the beautiful walks around and about. Lake Windermere is also within walking distance (20 minutes). There are many cafes and restaurants around too.

Just returned from a weeks stay at this beautiful cottage, which is done to a high standard and was extremely clean and presentable it has a real homely feeling about it due to the décor and home comforts provided.. Great location a short walk to Ambleside with local walks and mountain biking nearby. Loved the old laundry.. Spotlessly clean, very cozy. Everything had been thought off & so well equipped. Location also perfect for exploring the lakes. Thoroughly enjoyed our week. Ideally would have preferred a private secure garden - but booked this as loved the pictures. We weren't disappointed. The garden across the road was total bliss! Wish I was still there!

Me, my partner and little boy have just returned from a week away here at the cottage.. We couldn't have asked for more, everything was done to such a high standard, it was extremely clean and comfortable. Location was excellent within a ten minute walk from the lake and from Ambleside town centre. Very sad to leave and come home. We are already looking at booking for next year as we have enjoyed it so much. Would highly recommend a stay here.

We were totally spoilt with this cottage! I come every year to Ambleside, sometimes twice a year and this by far has been the best place I have every stayed! A real home from home, all the mod cons you could want, warm, cosy! The location was excellent and we enjoyed the picturesque short walk into Ambleside. Already planning my next visit!
