With a history dating back 300 years, yet offering all modern comforts, Salvin House is a perfect staycation country retreat in Alston, right on the Cumbria-Northumberland border. Our elegant holiday home can accommodate up to eight people.

With perfectly proportioned living and dining rooms, wood burning stove, a fully equipped kitchen and four comfortable bedrooms, each with its own unique colour theme, you will feel instantly relaxed when you walk in the front door of Salvin House, our self-catering cottage in the heart of Cumberland. ​

Our professional housekeeping team will prepare everything in readiness for your arrival, including a locally sourced welcome pack (with our compliments), logs for the stove (in season), fluffy towels and crisp cotton linen on all the beds. So you can focus on relaxing and enjoying your rural getaway. ​

Our Alston holiday cottage welcomes up to two small or medium-sized dogs, so long as their owners are properly trained and well-behaved, of course. 

BOOKINGS UPDATE: Currently bookings for our Cumbria holiday let are are from Saturday to Saturday. From early October 2021, we will switch to a Friday and Monday switchover, with bookings available for Friday to Friday, Friday to Monday, Monday to Friday or Monday to Monday. The weekly rates will not change, we are simply introducing additional flexibility so you can book the break that works for you. Over the festive season, arrival days will be more flexible, with a minimum booking of three nights.
