We’ve just returned from a lovely week at Amberley Cottage.. The first thing we noticed on opening the front door was the fresh smell, the cottage was immaculately clean for our arrival. We were welcomed with a tin of homemade flapjack and a pint of milk. The little touches make all the difference - and there are a lot of them. Ample supplies of every day items, from tea bags to bath foam make this really special. We couldn’t have been more comfortable and the cottage is the perfect base for days out in the Dales, while Masham itself offers everything you could want for eating out, take aways and pubs. Vennells, The Bruce Arms and the fabulous chip shop are particularly recommended. We enjoyed our stay so much we’ve already booked our next stay in our Masham home from home.

Well first of all, first impressions of the accommodation is it looks very beautiful when you arrive. But very uncomfortable beds, not very clean, no freezer, a mat placed in a dangerous position which made me fall and injure myself and no storage for food or clothes, its not what I expected! Good points:- 1. Off road parking, nice to be able to park outside especially with me having mobility problems. 2. Enclosed garden, great for sitting out when there is sun. 3. Bathroom downstairs, don't have to get upstairs for the loo. 4. Good showers Bad points:- 1. To say we are still in a pandemic and covid is still very widespread, I expected the accommodation to be thoroughly cleaned to a higher than normal standard. The sofas were full of dust, the cupboards had 2 spiders living in there with several webs so hadn't been cleaned prior to our visit. The rugs were really dirty and the floor was also really dirty. 2. There was no room to store any food so had to store food on the sides. There were cupboards full of unnecessary things for a holiday like scales for baking a cake. 3. There was no freezer so was unable to store the frozen food I had brought although there would be plenty of room for a chest freezer either outside or in the first reception room. 4. The beds were extremely uncomfortable! The king size mattress is completely ruined. It dips in the middle and you can see where the mattress has collapsed. This is a big thing, especially as I suffer with chronic pain. This just made it so much worse. 5. Had Sykes cottages ringing as I had one more small dog threatening to ask us to leave because I hadn't declared it when I booked. It was a genuine mistake. Clearly we were being watched which is not what you want when you are on holiday. We then had someone come in and move our belongings when we were out! The extra dog wasn't a problem, we left the place cleaner than when we found it. 6. A very dangerous mat was placed on the wooden floor in the first reception room under the window. It had no rubber lining to keep it in place and I was walking to the toilet and went straight over and injured my elbow. I suppose I was lucky it was just my elbow and didn't smash my head really or it was one of my children that fell! 7. Then went to use the first aid box and there were contents in there from 2003 so none of it was sterile! Just basic health and safety really. So yes all in all, wouldn't be recommending and think there needs to be some changes to get things covid safe and generally safe.

A very cosy and comfortable cottage in a great location, very peaceful but just a short walk to the town centre, the extras provided by the owner were greatly appreciated ,having a third bedroom was really useful as one of our party was suffering from a cough so the extra space was ideal

The cottage was clean and tidy and well equipped.. ......very close to all the shops..pubs...Brewerys....and butcher's. The fish and chip shop is also worth a visit..very good. The only let down for us was the mattress in the master bedroom.......it was appalling didn't get a single nights sleep......very uncomfortable.

Lovely cottage down a very pretty lane.. Cosy, clean, comfortable and in a great location. Our dog enjoyed the enclosed garden and we enjoyed the lovely welcome tray which included a delicious cake! Close to all local amenities. If we were to return to this area, we would certainly return to Amberley Cottage.

My friends and l enjoyed a fabulous New Year in this gorgeous cottage. We were welcomed with a home made lemon drizzle cake and a basket of logs for the fire. The cottage is beautiful, so cosy with everything you need for a self catering holiday, it also includes three parking spaces! Masham itself has some lovely pubs a restaurant and great dog friendly walks along the river. The owner Sue was really helpful, I accidently left some belongings behind which Sue promptly returned refusing payment for postage. I would strongly recommend a visit to this beautiful cottage, you won't be disappointed!

Amberley Cottage did exactly 'what it said on the tin' - it was comfortable, clean, warm and wonderfully well equipped.. The owner had left enough of everything - from cleaning products in the kitchen through to milk in the fridge and a homemade cake. When we had a problem with the T.V. someone appeared within the hour to fix it. The location is perfect - only a 2 minute walk from the main square in Masham and yet with private off road parking outside the front door. Despite less than perfect weather, staying here made for a perfect winter holiday - and the log burner on a very cold and wet day was the icing on the cake!!

It is perfectly situated behind the Market Square and is very comfortable and very well equipped with all needs catered for. There is also ample off road parking which is a bonus. The lovely cake was also very welcome as was the milk. Will definately stay again

We have stayed at Amberley cottage before and have booked for Easter again.. The cottage is beautiful and very nicely furnished and well equipped. It has a very nice enclosed garden for a pet and a very lovely log fire. The cottage is extremely well placed in a lovely village with pubs within walking distance and a lovely square to get provisions. There is ample off road parking too which is a bonus. There are lots of places to visit in the area which means you are never short of something to do. Would highly recommend.

This cottage was lovely and not short of anything. It is very cosy and a great place to stay. We were welcomed with a lovely sponge cake , Delicious. The town of Masham is a lovely little town although not much to do but a great place to use as a base. Lovely walks and great pubs which are all dog friendly and serve great food especially the Bruce, Worse service and food was the kings ? hotel in the square.
April 2016
Just returned home from one weeks stay in this beautiful cottage. Sue the owner is a lovely lady who promptly arrived to sort a small problem we had with the TV. There was a scrummy homemade lemon drizzle cake and a pint of milk waiting for us on arrival which were much appreciated. The cottage was very clean, comfortable and equipped to the highest standard and the bed was soooo comfortable! In spite of the awful weather, the cottage made our stay in Masham an enjoyable one. Thank you so much Sue.

Amberley Cottage is a lovely, welcoming and cosy cottage. A real home from home. Very clean and well equipped. Close to amenities of Masham but in a very quiet spot. Parking and a nice safe garden. Downstairs shower room was an added bonus! We enjoyed some tasty meals and drinks in almost all the local pubs/hotels. Friendly hostelries with a typical Yorkshire rustic feel. Nice walks from the doorstep. Masham was a real delight and will definitely return.
February 2016
Stayed at Amberley Cottage for a week in February, our first stay in Masham. Cottage was cosy and welcoming. Roomy, well equiped and very clean. The owner had left us a home baked lemon drizzle cake which was delicious and she checked to see if everything was OK on our arrival day. Cottage was very close to local amenities and market square but was very quiet and peaceful. A nice garden and the parking was handy. Masham was a delight with a pub/hotel to suit everyone if you can drag yourself away from the biggest log burner I have ever seen!. All the shops you would need. Nice walks from the cottage and some lovely gems a bit further afield. We went to Hackfall Woods, Fountains Abbey and the Druids Temple. Follied out! Cannot recommend this cottage highly enough.

The cottage was beautiful. We felt very welcome. It was warm and cosy and we had everything that we needed.
March 2015
Stayed for 3 nights midweek break. Couldn't fault the cottage, had everything you would need for a relaxing break, plenty of room and access to Masham village within a 2 minute walk. The village has great real ale pubs, 2 breweries worth visiting, local shops, a lovely church and offers access to plenty of nearby towns and villages. Lovely countryside and walks nearby, we didn't use the car all the time we were there. The owner had baked us a Victoria sponge cake which was a lovely touch and well received. The log burner was very cosy and nice to come back to when we had been out and about. Would definitely visit again, for longer next time to make the most of the area.
