The owner keeps the house in immaculate condition.. It was warm and cosy when we arrived and there was milk and tea/coffee ready for us to use. The key collection details were quick and easy and the owner popped round the first evening to make sure everything was ok and to check we didnt need anything. We had the large front bedroom with a super king sized bed, the duvet was snuggly and cosy. We went to sleep every night to the sound of the River Ribble burbling (although on one day it was positively raging!) along in its bed. My husband walked along it for a fair way. There was so much to do in and around Settle, which is a very busy market town. I recommend the Golden Lion for good food and great beer! Ruchee offers great Indian and Bangladeshi food to eat in and take out. The Fishermans Fish and Chips are wonderful. Do visit the Naked man Cafe for great coffee and friendly staff, the antique shop has some gorgeous things in it, and the tiny second hand book shop hidden down an alleyway is fantastic and a great place to stock up on holiday reading! There is also the Watershed Mill and cafe where you can buy good quality walking and wet weather gear along with loads of other things, a lot at reduced prices. The cafe there offers good food at good prices too,. Do visit the Courtyard Cheese Shop at the Cheese Barn about 5 mins drive away along the A59 - fantastic cheeses to sample and buy and I highly recommend their little cafe especially the cheese taster plate and the coffee and walnut cake!

5 Ribble Terrace was so warm and inviting - a home from home.. The location was terrific overlooking the river. The owner Mark was so welcoming. He popped round on our first evening to ensure that all was well and check if we needed anything and advised us that we could contact him if there was any problem, which of course there wasn't.

5 Ribble Terrace was a great property, well equiped and lovely large rooms.. It is just a short stroll into the town where there is a good choice of pubs, restaurants & cafes, also Booth's supermarket is within 5 minutes walk. It has a lovely outlook next to the river Ribble.

March 2017
What a delightful surprise. My grown up children booked this as my birthday present so i knew nothing until I arrived. Having stayed in several Yorkshire cottages this is the best so far; really-spacious and plenty of room for 4 adults and all their gear. So warm and cosy that we decided not to light the open fire. Off street parking for 2 cars and it was easy to park a third in a nearby street. Fabulous walks - some direct from the house and so you wouldn't always need a car. Easy walking distance to the local shops including a couple a 'proper' outdoor shops with a good selection of kit. Also a fish and chip shop; near enough to walk to but far enough away not to be smelt. Very comfortable and large bed in the master bedroom and newly refurbished shower room. Very friendly and genuine owner.

A warm and welcoming home away from home with everything you could possibly require. It had beautiful linen and fluffy soft towels. The property is spotlessly clean. To be greeted by the owners on arrival was extra special. The off street parking was marvellous as was the prompt attention from the owners to our many enquiries and requests. We enjoyed the beautiful view of the river from most windows and the close proximity to glorious walks in the Dales, the Lakes District, Morecambe Bay, pubs, shops and the station.

We booked this property for one month and found it to be the best rental we have ever had. It was scrupulously clean, beautiful linens and towels, everything we needed was there for our comfort. The views of the river and hills were divine and off street parking was a big plus. It was a short 5 minute stroll to the centre of town and 2 minutes to Booths supermarket. We used the house as a base for day trips to The Lakes, Morecombe Bay, Hadrians Wall , York and of course the Dales and villages in the area. The owners live nearby and were always available to help us with directions and walks. The house was lovely to come home to after a day's adventuring. Plenty of hot water and great Wifi to send our photos off to family and friends. I highly recommend this lovely home away from home and please treat it with respect so that others can enjoy it as well.

Clean, comfortable place to stay. The front bedroom has a huge bed in it and overlooks the river. We used it as a base for exploring Settle and the surrounding areas. It's less than 10 minutes to walk into Settle, which has a good selection of pubs, restaurants and tea rooms/cafes and also the scenic Settle to Carlisle railway. You can also walk into the Dales from Settle. We were out everyday walking, exploring the various villages and attractions and at the end of the day we had a snug house to come back to.
